EMU was founded in 1917 and is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA. From its beginnings as a small bible college, EMU has grown into a vibrant learning community, serving people from many faith traditions, cultures, and nationalities. 50+ faith traditions are represented on campus... EMU leadership is accountable to a board of trustees. Academic leadership includes the deans of the three schools within EMU. Student life is led by a dean of students. EMU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and includes accreditation for programs in education, nursing, social work, counseling and seminary... EMU is a private university in Virginia known for academic excellence and affordability with a focus on service, social justice, and global engagement.
