GREEN ROOF BLOCKS

Green Roof Blocks began in 2002, as a nagging question I had after reading an article from a trade magazine about green roofs gaining popularity in Chicago. The article stated that a green roof can have as much as three feet of soil, depending on the types and size of the selected plants. The question I couldn't seem to shake; what happens when there is a roof leak? As a roofer of 30 years, I've come to know there are few constants in the roofing industry. There is one, however; roofs leak. While no roofer intentionally installs a roof leak, it happens. As much as we try, roofing is not an exact science. Often it takes several attempts to get all of the flashings completely water tight. This process can take some time, as water entry isn't always immediately noticeable, and determining the point of entry can be more of an art than science.
