IRIS

IRIS - the International Response to Improve Sight is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing blindness and restoring the vision of afflicted individuals in the developing world through education, equipment donation and encouragement of native health-care providers. IRIS strives to be an important resource to the local medical personnel who form the front line in the effort to end global blindness... Since it was founded in 2004, IRIS has provided clinics in the West African nation of Cameroon with more than $500,000 worth of medical equipment, surgical instruments, clinic supplies and medications. Here are just a few examples of what IRIS has accomplished thanks to the generosity of its donors... IRIS provided the Mbingo Eye Clinic with a modern surgical microscope enabling surgeons to perform faster and safer cataract surgery, treating the leading cause of blindness in Africa.
