Mr. Dortch served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in various capacities from combat operations in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm to training, operational planning, career counseling, and administration. His military personal and unit service awards include the: Combat Action Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. Ariane Sweeney came to IWP after working with Citizens Against Government Waste for many years, most recently as Vice President, Membership and Development. A 2016 graduate of IWP, Christine Balling is the founder of Colombian nonprofit organization Fundación ECCO to promote democracy and youth leadership in areas of conflict. She has also served as a subject matter expert to the U.S. Special Operations South commander on demobilization and counter-recruitment issues, partnered with U.S. Army Civil Affairs teams, worked with the Colombian military's demobilization group, and in collaboration with the Colombian Army, Air Force, and National Police, she led counter-recruitment projects in areas where the FARC insurgency operated. The Colombian Army incorporated her counter-recruitment model into the non-kinetic component of its mission.
Ms. Balling serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Universidad El Bosque in Bogotá, Colombia. She received the Colombian Armed Forces' Medal of Distinguished Service from the Colombian Minister of Defense in recognition of her work in Colombia and received the 2020 Phillips Academy Andover Alumni Award of Distinction. She holds a B.A. from Columbia University's Barnard College and an M.A. in National Security Affairs from The Institute of World Politics.

Derrick T. Dortch is President of The Diversa Group, a global management and strategic consulting firm providing advice, services, and solutions to organizations and individuals to assist them achieve success. The Diversa Group provides a wide range of services ranging from career, leadership, and organizational development to security and risk consulting. In 2005, Mr. Dortch assumed the leadership of The Diversa Group after serving as Vice President. Since then, he has taken the lead in expanding services and successfully growing the company.
In addition to his work at The Diversa Group, Mr. Dortch is a columnist for The Washington Post. His column focuses on the Federal Government and helping both federal workers and federal job seekers achieve success in their careers. Each week Mr. Dortch hosts a radio show on Federal News Radio 1500 AM called "Fed Access with Derrick T. Dortch." Every Friday at 12:00 noon, he talks to guests about everything from careers to contracts to counterterrorism and anything else related to the federal sector.
Before assuming the leadership of The Diversa Group, Mr. Dortch worked as Assistant Director for Georgetown University's Career Education Center. At Georgetown, he served as a career counselor, special programs manager, employment advisor, and was in charge of the Center's educational technology & marketing. Mr. Dortch previously held the position of Manager of Internships, Government & Non-Profit Opportunities, where he worked to find Georgetown students jobs in the federal government, non-profit, and public service sectors by building relationships with government agencies and non-profit employers and advising students on how to succeed. He served as the first Director of the Georgetown Public Interest Program (GPIP) before being promoted to Assistant Director.

Dr. Amanda Jihyun Won is the Director of the Institute of World Politics' (IWP) China/Asia Program. In May 2022, she received a Doctor of Statecraft and National Security (DSNS) degree from IWP. Amanda is also the founder of IWP's Asia Initiative Lecture Series (AILS) through which diverse scholar-practitioners have presented their expertise on Asia.
Amanda holds an M.P.S. in Arts and Cultural Management from the Pratt Institute in New York and an M.A. in Government (with a specialization in National Security Studies) from Johns Hopkins University. Her professional experience includes having worked in both the NGO and government sectors, serving as a legislative assistant at the New York City Council and as a Diplomatic & Consular Affairs and Partnership intern at the New York City Mayor's Office for International Affairs. She has also worked at the U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK) where she was a contributor to that organization's publication: "The Parallel Gulag: North Korea's "An-Jeon-Bu" Prison Camps."
Amanda has published an article entitled "The Theory and Practice of North Korean Espionage," which was published in the Winter/Spring 2020 edition of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers' (AFIO) The Intelligencer: Journal of U.S. Intelligence Studies. She also co-authored an article "North Korean Control Systems - Insights from an NKIS Intelligence Officer/Defector," also published in the AFIO's The Intelligencer, Summer/Fall 2021 edition. At IWP, Amanda has presented multiple lectures on the topic of North Korean espionage. She also presented a lecture based on her doctoral research on the aforementioned topic at the 2022 Intelligence Studies Consortium, sponsored by the National Intelligence University. In addition, Amanda was also invited by the USACAPOC, Ft. Bragg, where she presented a lecture on "The Uniqueness of North Korean Special Operations." Recently, she delivered a presentation on "The Evolution of North Korean Espionage through its Death of Democracy" at the 2022 International Association for Intelligence Education (IAFIE), held at the Citadel, South Carolina.

Dr. James S. Robbins is a national security columnist for USA Today and Senior Fellow in National Security Affairs at the American Foreign Policy Council.
Dr. Robbins is a former special assistant in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and in 2007 was awarded the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
He is also the former award-winning Senior Editorial Writer for Foreign Affairs at The Washington Times. His work has also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, National Review, and other publications. He appears regularly on national and international television and radio.
Dr. Robbins holds a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and has taught at the National Defense University and Marine Corps University, among other schools. His research interests include terrorism and national security strategy, political theory and military history.
Dr. Robbins is the author of five books, including The Real Custer: From Boy General to Tragic Hero, This Time We Win: Revisiting the Tet Offensive, and the critically acclaimed Last in Their Class: Custer, Pickett and the Goats of West Point.

Ambassador Aldona Z. Woś was born in Warsaw, Poland. Her father survived Flossenburg Concentration Camp, and her mother survived Nazi Germany's child slave labor. Her father, Paul Zenon Woś, was a member of the Polish Home Army and recipient of many distinguished awards, including the "Righteous Among the Nations" medal from Yad Vashem.
In 2002 and 2004, President George W. Bush appointed Ambassador Woś to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. In 2004, she was appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia. During her tour, she focused on winning the hearts and minds of the next generation of Estonian leaders, Russian integration, HIV and AIDS prevention, and the preservation of Estonian culture. For her service, Ambassador Woś was awarded the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana 1st Class by the President of the Republic of Estonia, the Distinguished Service Cross of the Estonian Defense Forces, and the Cross of Merit of the Estonian National Police Board. In 2007, she received the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. In 2008, she was presented the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. She was invested in the Sovereign Order of Malta in 2010.
In 2012, Ambassador Woś served on The University of North Carolina's Board of Governors. From 2013 to 2015, she served as North Carolina's Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services overseeing more than 18,000 employees across North Carolina and a nearly $20 billion budget. In 2017, President Donald Trump appointed Ambassador Woś as the Vice Chair of the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. In 2018, she was appointed to the Duke Law Board of Visitors. In 2020, President Donald Trump nominated Ambassador Woś to be the U.S. Ambassador to Canada. Ambassador Woś also serves on the boards of The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, the Council of American Ambassadors, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is currently the President of The Institute of World Politics.
Ambassador Woś earned her M.D. at the Warsaw Medical Academy and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine, including a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine, in New York City. Her career as a doctor included private practice, corporate medicine, clinical care, teaching, and consulting for both hospitals and private industry. She holds an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from The Institute of World Politics and an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Greensboro College.

William H. Webster was sworn in as Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) on May 26, 1987. In this position he headed the Intelligence Community (all foreign intelligence agencies of the United States) and directed the Central Intelligence Agency until September 1, 1991.
In September 1991, he joined the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP in its Washington, D.C. office and still maintains an office there since retiring in 2006.
William H. Webster was born March 6, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri and received his early education in Webster Groves near St. Louis. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts in 1947 where, in 1975, he received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Judge Webster received his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University Law School, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1949. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy in World War II and again in the Korean War.
A practicing attorney with a St. Louis law firm from 1949 to 1959, Judge Webster served as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri from 1960 to 1961. He returned to private practice in 1961. From 1964 to 1969, he was a member of the Missouri Board of Law Examiners.
In 1970, Judge Webster was appointed a Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and in 1973 was elevated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He resigned on February 23, 1978 to become Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During his service on the bench, Judge Webster was Chairman of the Judiciary Conference Advisory Committee on the Criminal Rules and was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Habeas Corpus and the Committee of Court Administration.
A member of the American Bar Association, the Council of the American Law Institute, the Order of the Coif, the Missouri Bar Integrated, and the Metropolitan St. Louis Bar Association, Judge Webster served as Chairman of the Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, and is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Judge Webster was the recipient of the 2002 ABA Medal - the highest honor the ABA can bestow. Judge Webster is an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is the recipient of the 2001 Justice Award of the American Judicature Society.
Judge Webster was named Man of the Year 1980 by the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and in May 1981 received the William Greenleaf Elliot Award from Washington University and the Riot Relief Fund Award in New York City. In October 1982, he was presented the Fordham Law School Louis Stein Award and in August 1983, the International Platform Association Theodore Roosevelt Award for excellence in public service. In June 1984, he received the Jefferson Award for the Greatest Public Service by an Elected or Appointed Official. In May 1985, he was presented the Freedoms Foundation National Service Medal in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania and the First Annual Patrick V. Murphy Award from the Police Foundation, Washington, D.C., for distinguished service in law enforcement. He was named Father of the Year for Public Service in May 1986 by the National Father's Day Committee and received the 1986 Thomas Jefferson Award in Law from the University of Virginia. In June 1988, he received the Bracebridge Young Award from the American Society of Corporate Secretaries and in May 1989 he was presented the Federal City Club's Distinguished Public Service Award. He received the Salees Seddon Criminal Justice Leadership Award in April 1990. On October 30, 1990, Judge Webster was presented the Boy Scouts of America Silver Buffalo Award.
On July 1, 1991 Judge Webster was presented the Distinguished Intelligence Medal and on July 25, 1991 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Security Medal. Judge Webster currently serves as Chairman of the Homeland Security Advisory Council.
Judge Webster was elected to active membership in the National Academy of Public Administration in October 1981 and served as President of the Institute of Judicial Administration from May 1985 until September 1988. He is the recipient of the following awards: 2000 International Academy of Mediators Recognition of Excellence Award; The American Lawyer 2009 Lifetime Achiever Award; The American Arbitration Association 2009 Peacemaker Award; and the 2010 Business Executives for National Security Stanley A. Weiss National Security Award. Judge Webster currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution.
In 1972, Judge Webster received a Washington University Alumni Citation for contributions to the field of law and, in 1977, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Washington University Law School. A former member of the University of Colorado Law School Board of Visitors and the National Advisory Board of the American University, Judge Webster holds honorary degrees from Amherst College, DePauw University, William Woods College, Drury College, Washington University, Columbia College, University of Dayton School of Law, University of Notre Dame, Centre College, Dickinson School of Law, University of Miami, DePaul University, the American University, The John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Westminster College, Georgetown University, Rockhurst College and Pepperdine University.
Judge Webster was married to the late Drusilla Lane Webster. He is the father of three children: Drusilla L. Busch, William H., Jr., and Katherine H. Roessle, and has seven grandchildren. On October 20, 1990 Judge Webster married Lynda Clugston.

Mr. Johnsrud was born and raised in Conrad, Iowa. After receiving his B.A. in History from the University of Notre Dame, he taught English and American history at a private university in Vilnius, Lithuania. Upon returning to the U.S., Jason interned on Capitol Hill and then worked at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC. Following his work there, Jason enrolled in graduate school at Johns Hopkins SAIS (where he studied in Bologna, Italy). Mr. Johnsrud has been at IWP since January 2000.

John Bergholz currently serves as Vice President of Institutional Advancement for The Institute of World Politics.
With over 25 years of experience, this assignment with IWP marks his 4th time as a Vice President for an institution of higher education. He began his career in higher education fundraising at Northwestern University's School of Law, where he directed the annual fund and learned about personal solicitations. He was credited with turning that annual fund into a major gifts program that achieved new records of giving.
He has also held the title of Executive Director and served briefly as President of the LCFS (Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois) Foundation. Mr. Bergholz has worked in the U.S. and in Canada and has done international alumni and development work in several countries, including helping to secure major funding for a university in Kenya which he was able to visit.
Mr. Bergholz has been a consultant on all aspects of fundraising, phonathons, board building, program development, alumni relations, and international activities and has presented on these topics at a variety of fundraising and alumni conferences.
In addition to working for a variety of non-profits, Mr. Bergholz has also served on the boards of several non-profit boards. One such volunteer assignment, was his term as an alumni trustee for his alma mater, Reed College, from which he received his B.A. in International Studies.

Mallorie E. Marino is the Academic Director at The Institute of World Politics. She is an IWP alumna who acquired her Master's degree in National Security and Statecraft while working for the Dean and Kościuszko Chairman of Polish Studies at the Institute. Ms. Marino later worked as an intelligence policy specialist for the Department of Homeland Security, but since then has decided that working for IWP better suits the needs of her family while allowing her to serve a great cause. She also holds a certificate in Hispanic Studies from the University of Salamanca after a year of study in Spain as well as a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Colorado.

Professional Experience
Prof. John J. Quattrocki formerly served as Vice President at CACI's National Intelligence Solutions Group. An expert on U.S. national security, Prof. Quattrocki is retired from the Senior Executive Service with 22 years of operational and policy experience. His work has focused on Russia, the countries of the (former) Warsaw Pact, East Asia, Islamic extremist groups, and domestic terrorist threats.
He has ten years of experience in national security policy development and implementation at the Senior Executive level on the National Security Council staff, where he served as a policy advisor to the National Security Advisor, Dr. Condoleezza Rice, and the NSC. In this role, he worked on counterintelligence policy, intelligence policy for the Global War on Terrorism, intelligence and security policy in homeland security matters, U.S. government policy in matters of classification and declassification, and U.S. intelligence community transformation and re-engineering.

T.J. Snowden has been the Director of Financial Aid and Compliance Officer at IWP since May 2014.
Dr. Snowden has been a higher education administrator in the areas of enrollment management, financial aid, and veteran affairs for more than 12 years. He holds bachelors and Master's degrees from the University of Georgia and Trinity Washington University, respectively. He recently graduated with his Doctorate in Education from the University of Georgia in May 2019. Prior to joining IWP, Dr. Snowden was the Associate Director of Financial Aid at Trinity Washington University in northeast Washington, D.C.

Tim Stebbins is a 2011 graduate of IWP. After several years working on public diplomacy and political warfare strategies for the Afghanistan/Pakistan theater, he returned to IWP in 2013 to take on the role of Director of Graduate Recruitment and eventually Vice President in 2018 and Senior Vice President in 2022. During his tenure, he crafted a strategy focused on developing personal relationships with prospective students that mirrored IWP's classroom environment. From there, he turned IWP's sights towards the creation of strategic partnerships with universities around the country, a program that has grown to nearly 30 university and private sector partnerships.
In his current role, Tim works with all doctoral program candidates, focuses on the growth of the OGR team, and drives the expansion and IWP's institutional outreach to achieve our strategic enrollment targets.

Timothy McCranor graduated from IWP with an M.A. in Statecraft and National Security Affairs in 2012, prior to which he spent nearly two years in Yemen studying Arabic. Upon graduating from IWP as the Salutatorian, he worked as a Strategic Communications Analyst/Arabic Linguist for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)/Leidos in Vienna, VA. Tim also served as an Open-Source Analyst/Arabic Translator for C-LEVEL Maritime Risks, a private sector risk consultancy specializing in analyzing and forecasting the Somali piracy business model.
