Dr Ajeet Madhav Wagle

Dr Ajeet Madhav Wagle is currently Senior Consultant and Medical Director, International Eye Cataract Retina Centre at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. Dr Ajeet believes in genuinely caring for his patients as his foremost priority. He specializes in the management of retinal diseases, eye injuries, ocular inflammatory disorders, as well as modern micro-incision cataract surgery, modern micro-incision glaucoma surgery, laser surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr Ajeet is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK, Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India. He completed a Clinical Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and was a faculty at the renowned top eye institution in India - Sankara Nethralaya, Medical Research Foundation, Chennai. Dr Ajeet was also Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Part-time Lecturer at Optometry Centre's of Singapore Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Dr Ajeet has a keen interest in clinical research and has published many papers in peer-reviewed local and international scientific journals. He also has a book and two book chapters to his credit. Dr Ajeet was actively involved in raising awareness of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in Singapore and led the nation-wide AMD Awareness Week campaign from 2008-2011 as Chairman of the Organising Committee. He was successfully awarded the Public Health Education Grant by the Ministry of Health, Singapore for the AMD Awareness Week campaign for six consecutive years. He also authored a commemorative book titled - "A Vision for the Nation: A Decade of AMD Awareness Campaign in Singapore."

Dr. Akash Verma

After completing MBBS, Dr Akash Verma trained at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore before obtaining his membership of Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). Upon completion of advanced training in Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care, he was conferred a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). Subsequently he was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) fellowship and was a visiting fellow in the department of Interventional Pulmonology at Samsung Medical Centre-Seoul, Mayo Clinic-USA, and University of Chicago. In addition to common respiratory conditions like asthma & COPD, he is a lung specialist with a Sub-specialty interest in Intensive Care Medicine, Interventional Pulmonology & lung cancer. He is trained in advanced bronchoscopy techniques of laser resection of lung tumors, silicone stent placement in the airways, pleuroscopy, EBUS-TBNA, and navigation bronchoscopy. Up till 1 April 2020 Dr. Akash Verma was a Senior Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is a Visiting Consultant to Thomson Medical Centre. Achievements Dr Akash pioneered the establishment of the service of "navigation bronchoscopy" in Singapore in 2018 as a part of improving the quality and safety of diagnostic procedures for lung cancer patients in the healthcare system. He participated in the Quality improvement project to reduce the diagnostic delays in the journey of the patients with suspected lung cancer by establishing a dedicated lung nodule clinic. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers to date and continues to have active interest in publishing and teaching. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the journal "Precision and Future Medicine."

Dr. Alvin Hong

Dr Alvin Hong received his medical training in the United Kingdom, graduating from Cambridge University in 1985. Neurosurgical training was done in Singapore General Hospital, as well as Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. In 1996, Dr Hong spent time developing his expertise in spine surgery in the Barrow Neurological Institute in Arizona, and Gamma Knife radiosurgery in UCSF, USA. Before moving to private practice in 2004, he was the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery in the National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore General Hospital campus. Although his main practice is in the Mount Elizabeth and Gleneagles Hospitals, Dr Hong is also a Visiting Consultant to the National University Hospital. Dr Hong looks after, and operates on, problems affecting the brain, spine and nerves. He does stereotactic craniotomies, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, endoscopic pituitary surgery, thoracoscopic sympathectomies, as well as microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm. He has subspecialty interests in brain tumour surgery, especially pituitary surgery, and spine surgery. Achievements In 1994, whilst working in Cambridge, Dr Hong was awarded the Norman Dott Gold medal as the best candidate in the FRCS part 3 Intercollegiate Examination in Neurosurgery.

Dr. Ang Peng Chye

Dr. Ang Peng Chye is a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Psychiatric and Behavioural Medicine Clinic, and founder and Behavioural Science Consultant with the Centre for Effective Living. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B. B.S) degree at the University of Singapore in 1978. After his National Service, he trained at the Royal Free Hospital Rotation in Psychiatry.

Dr. Ang Teck Kee

Dr Ang Teck Kee is a dedicated and established cardiologist in Singapore with more than 19 years of clinical experience. Fluent in English, Mandarin and various dialects, he has worked with both local and international patients to develop individualised treatment plans for their best possible outcome. Dr Ang is a strong believer of using the latest technological advances in Cardiology in his practice. He has sub-specialty training in interventional cardiology and has performed more than 3,000 invasive coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention. Apart from his interest in complex coronary intervention, his other interests include stroke prevention in at risk cardiac patients with abnormal heart rhythms (example: atrial fibrillation). Passionate about the latest advancement in cardiology treatment, Dr Ang is also actively involved in clinical research and was the co-investigator in numerous international and local clinical trials.

Dr. Anselm Lee Chi-Wai

Dr Anselm Lee is a paediatrician with a subspecialty in paediatric haematology and oncology, with over 20 years of experience. Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong in 1986, Dr Lee received his post-graduate training in the University Paediatric Unit, Queen Mary Hospital. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the United Kingdom in 1989 and has been recognised as a Specialist in Paediatrics under the Medical Council of Hong Kong in 1993. Dr Lee is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH), the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (FHKAM), and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). Dr Lee also received his postgraduate training in paediatric haematology and oncology in the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Institute of Child Health, the University of London in 1990-1991. He returned to Hong Kong and established the paediatric bone marrow transplantation service in Queen Mary Hospital in 1991. In 1992, he carried out the first successful transplantation for thalassaemia in Hong Kong. In 1994, he carried out the first successful case of umbilical cord blood transplantation in Hong Kong. In 1995, Dr Lee helped established a comprehensive paediatric haematology and oncology service in Tuen Mun Hospital, a new regional hospital in Hong Kong that looked after 1 million people in that region. He also served as an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor to the University of Hong Kong. In 2007, Dr Lee joined ParkwayHealth in Singapore and established the Children's Haematology and Cancer Centre. This is a private healthcare facility that provides highly specialised clinical care for children with cancers and blood diseases from all over the globe. Children under the Children's Haematology and Cancer Centre receive personalised care that includes diagnostic evaluation, chemotherapy and other therapeutic interventions, and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Dr Lee has been a member of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (formerly United Kingdom Children's Cancer Study Group), and the Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Study Group. He was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Study Group from 2002 to 2004. Dr Lee has published over 100 papers in indexed, peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Antony Gardner

Dr Antony Gardner graduated from Cambridge University (BA, 1998) and Oxford University (BM BCh, 2001) and did his basic surgical training in the South-West of the UK before completing his Advanced Specialist Training in Orthopaedic surgery in Singapore in 2012. He developed a specialist interest in Trauma and foot and ankle surgery and returned to the UK for his fellowship training in Orthopaedic Trauma Unit in Oxford (2013). Following his fellowship, he has been helping to run a busy trauma service in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital before beginning his private practice in 2018. His specialty interests include Orthopaedic trauma, particularly post traumatic limb reconstruction, with experience managing bone and soft tissue infections and osteomyelitis. He has much experience using both conventional techniques and Ilizarov type ring fixators to treat complex limb deformities. He also has a keen interest in foot and ankle surgery, including degenerative conditions affecting the foot and ankle, Hallux valgus (bunions), ankle instability and Charcot arthropathy. He can provide an up-to-date specialist opinion for a wide variety of Orthopaedic conditions, including both non-operative and operative treatment. He is able to advise on the current management of complex limb reconstruction following trauma as well as foot and ankle conditions. He is also trained in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of complex fractures and ankle surgery. Achievements Dr Gardner is a regular regional speaker and trainer for the use of trauma implants and circular frames, innovative trauma fixation techniques, and leads workshops in advanced trauma surgery. He aims to continue in ensuring the best practices for trauma and foot and ankle, through combining surgical skill and competency with evidence-based techniques to deliver the best outcome for his patients.

Dr. Asok Kurup

Kurup graduated with MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 1992. He then obtained postgraduate qualifications in internal medicine, which included the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the National University of Singapore and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Edinburgh, UK in 1997. As he developed a keen interest in infectious diseases, he pursued advanced training in this specialty both locally and in the University of California at San Diego where he was a clinical and research fellow. He was awarded specialist accreditation in infectious diseases from the Ministry of Health Singapore and the Singapore Medical Council in 2001. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) since 2005. Prior to commencing private practice, Dr Kurup was a senior consultant in the Department of Infectious Diseases of Singapore General Hospital and a clinical lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He continues to serve as a visiting consultant to the Department of Infectious Diseases, Singapore General Hospital and is an adjunct associate professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore (Duke-NUS). He was at the forefront of infectious diseases outbreaks including the Nipah virus outbreak in 1999, the SARS epidemic in 2003 and the H1N1 pandemic of 2009. Being a former chair of the infection control committee of the Singapore General Hospital, Dr Kurup has also managed various other outbreaks and remains passionate about control of community and nosocomial infections. He has also served on several committees of the Ministry of Health primarily in the area of infection control. He also has a keen interest in HIV medicine, which was the focus of his training stint at the University of California. He was also a former visiting consultant to infectious Diseases Department of Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he ran a HIV clinic at the Communicable Diseases Center. As a member of the Specialist Training Committee (Infectious Diseases) and the current Vice-president of Infectious Diseases Physicians Specialty Board, he continues to contribute to the development of the specialty in the country. Given his keen interest in research throughout his career, he has over 85 scientific publications and abstracts to his credit in peer-reviewed professional publications including Clinical Infectious Diseases, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Emerging Infectious Diseases, European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and American Journal of infection Control. He continues to present his abstracts at major infectious diseases related scientific meetings. He is a regular reviewer of various scientific publications including the Annals of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Infection Control and the Singapore Medical Journal. He has delivered numerous lectures locally, regionally and overseas. Dr Kurup also does community outreach and relief work. In 2006, he helmed efforts by Singapore General Hospital to bring medical care and education to a disadvantaged neighbourhood. In 2005, he was part of a medical mission organized by Singhealth and the Sri Lanka Red Cross to bring medical relief to victims of the Asian Tsunami in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Chan Ching Wan

As a senior consultant, Dr. Chan Ching Wan has a special interest in the formation of cancer, and how it can be inhibited and treated. Dr. Chan is also an Assistant Professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, since 2009. Prior to being an essential part of Solis, she was the Cluster Sub-specialty Lead for Breast Services in Singapore's National University Health System. Dr Chan was also the Tumour Programme Lead for Breast Oncology for National Cancer Institute Singapore. Background Dr. Chan obtained her medical degree from the University of Edinburgh Medical School. Subsequently, Dr. Chan completed both basic and advanced specialty training in general surgery at the Singapore General Hospital, and exited from the programme in 2007. She has been a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow since 1999.In the midst of her surgery training, Dr. Chan received an NMRC Totalisator Board Scholarship where she completed her PhD in Neuroendocrinology at the University of Bristol in 2004.

Dr. SL Chan is a leading Singapore Dental Surgeon specializing in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1989. He obtained his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery under Professor H. Tideman in the University in Hong Kong, where he graduated with a Master of Dental Surgery in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Subsequently, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons as well a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Dr Chan has held major leadership position in Singapore Dentistry, including being President of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (Singapore), Chairman of the Singapore Regional Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and President of the College of Dental Surgeons of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Since 2006, he has been appointed as a member of the Singapore Dental Council where he chairs the Credentials Committee as well as the Aesthetic Facial Procedures Oversight Committee. Dr Chan's practices a broad scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with a special interest in reconstructive jaw surgery for dental implantology as well as corrective jaw surgery for dento-facial disharmonies. He teaches and lectures internationally and is devoted to the advancement of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition to his private practice, Dr Chan teaches part time in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, National University of Singapore.
