Bob Manelis

A native of Colorado, Bob earned his B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from The Colorado School of Mines in 1982 and is a Registered Professional Petroleum Engineer. Bob began his career with Mobil in 1985 and joined ExxonMobil when the two giants merged in 2000. Bob was Subject Matter Expert for Integrated Production Optimization and Economics working in Alaska, California Colorado, Oklahoma, Offshore Alabama, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, and Equatorial Guinea. Most recently, Bob served as General Manager of North American Shale Development for BHP responsible for developing their Eagle Ford, Fayetteville, Haynesville, and Permian Basin assets with a $1B annual budget, 142 employees, and 7-rigs. In charge of planning and executing the company's entire upstream development program- his duties included well design, optimization, and delivery across all land, drilling, and completion operations. In addition, Bob and his team were responsible for the economic assessment, PSA negotiation support, and transition of BHP US Onshore's $10.5B acquisition by BPX. Previously, Bob served as General Manager of the Permian Production Unit where he consolidated acreage, divested noncore assets, and led the appraisal and acquisition of new acreage that transformed BHPs business from a legacy land position of 440,000 acres worth -$2.5B into an 84,000 acre position in the heart of the Delaware Basin valued at over +$5.5B. In the process, Bob drilled over 100 wells and increased production from 5,000 boed to 50,000 boed. Bob Manelis is a highly accomplished oil and gas senior executive and provides his 40-year expertise in engineering, strategic development, and mineral management service to R. King & Co. clients.

David C. Hooper

A 1985 graduate of University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Land Management, David is the founder of the American Association of Mineral Owners and currently serves on the the advisory board of ADAM Houston, a private network for members of the Oil & Gas Acquisitions, Divestitures and Mergers community in Houston. David began his career in the energy industry putting together acquisition and divestiture deals at American Exploration Co. for seven years. At International Paper from 1998 to 2011, David was Manager of Oil & Gas Assets responsible for managing and developing 8-million acres of oil & gas minerals. He also led several business development departments including Forest Resources managing 17-million surface acres. From 2011 to 2014, he led the land and business development departments at Empresa Energy, a private equity funded exploration and production company. In 2015, David was engaged by Boise Cascade and its minerals unit Labokay Natural Resources where he performed a full portfolio analysis and evaluation of their 1-million mineral acres, and rewrote their oil & gas lease form. With a 35-year career managing some of the largest and most valuable mineral assets in America, David provides valuable experience for our corporate clients.

Steve Cranford

Steve began working in the oil fields as a roustabout and roughneck as a young man in Wichita Falls. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980 with a B.A.A. in Petroleum Land Management, he began negotiating oil and gas leases, pooled units, and operating agreements for drilling projects at GoldKing Production in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida and Oklahoma. He became Vice President of Black Stone Oil Co. in 1984, supervising field operations, negotiating oil and gas leases, and managed all facets of drilling and completion operations. Enron snapped him up in 1988 to manage their Houston Division projects in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida-reporting directly to Mark Papa. Steve was responsible for exploration, budget analysis and forecasting, property acquisitions and divestitures, and drafting contracts. JPMorgan Chase Bank hired Steve in 1993 to head up their Private Bank Oil & Gas Group where he supervised their oil & gas operations in New York, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Responsible for acquisition & divestiture of oil and gas assets worldwide, Steve also implemented new management, accounting, and software systems and procedures. Steve joined R. King & Co. in 2017, deepening the company's management and development expertise for clients of all sizes.

Vanessa Cameron

Vanessa earned her BA from The Ohio State University in International Studies in 1985 and her Master of Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver in 1993. She has served on numerous oil & gas producer trade association committees for WEA, COGA, and PAW and was recently named to the Top 40 Women in Energy by the Denver Business Journal. Vanessa has extensive experience in oil & gas regulatory compliance for operators. In addition to environmental compliance, her federal permitting experience also includes management of archaeology, wildlife management, reclamation planning, NEPA compliance, and full field development infrastructure planning for roads, pipelines, water wells, lay flat lines, water disposal wells, and gravel mines. Vanessa began her career at boutique investment banking firm Julander, Worster & Associates in 1987, specializing in refinance and loan workouts. From 1988 to 1992 she worked at sister companies NICOR Oil & Gas and Reliance Gas Marketing, responsible for natural gas wellhead and pipeline nominations, transportation, marketing, balancing, margin analysis, price forecasting, and price risk management. She transitioned to the midstream sector of the industry at Duke Energy, responsible for gas plant, pipeline, and gathering system accounting-paying thousands of producers, calculating system balances, making journal entries, and performing monthly economic analysis reports for executive management review. Upon joining Anadarko Midstream, Vanessa managed midstream contracts for the business development division for hundreds of producers. She developed a new efficient process to make gas gathering dedication decisions, giving her the opportunity to learn much more about the land side of the business. R.
