Christina Persico

Christina's first role in journalism was at Taranaki Daily News, where she began covering the education round. She went on to become a court reporter and lead district council reporter - where her work was so appreciated that she received a round of applause at her final council meeting. She moved to Auckland in 2021 to work at the fortnightly community newspapers Devonport Flagstaff and Rangitoto Observer. In August 2022, Christina joined the RNZ Pacific team as Bulletin Editor. When she's not working, Christina writes fiction (she's working on her second novel), dabbles in photography, travels, and enjoys watching sport and caring for her rescue cat Nala.

Dr Jim Mather

Dr Jim Mather is of Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe and English descent. He grew up in the communities of Te Teko, Ōtara and Māngere He was appointed Chair of the Radio New Zealand Board of Governors in May 2018. Previously Jim was the Chief Executive of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa for five years.This followed nine years as Chief Executive of Māori Television, and prior to that he was Chief Executive of the Pacific Business Trust for almost three years. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Henley Business School in England and a Bachelor of Business Studies. He also completed a PhD in Māori economic development through AUT University in 2014 and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors. With business management experience spanning 25 years, and a qualified accountant by profession, Jim has held a variety of private sector roles including General Manager of a marine engineering business and Financial Controller for a local subsidiary of a Swiss multinational. Aligned with his commercial background, Jim is also a former officer in the New Zealand Army, and was awarded the Sword of Honour in recognition of his distinguished achievements in Officer training. He currently holds governance roles with the following organisations: Chair of Radio New Zealand Chair of Ngāti Awa Group Holdings Limited Independent Director of Southbase Construction Independent Director of Tonkin + Taylor Managing Director of Mather Solutions Limited Jim is passionate about Māori development, the media sector and the importance of education. Dr Mather's term with RNZ will be three years from 1 July 2023.

Ingrid Hipkiss

She has presented the 6pm news and weather, shared a desk with Paul Henry on his breakfast show that was simulcast on Newshub and Radio Live, and has interviewed all kinds of people about every topic imaginable, often live to air on national television.

Irene Gardiner

Irene Gardiner is a long-time television producer, with particular expertise in the area of factual programming. She ran TVNZ's internal production unit from 1995 to 2001, before becoming TVNZ's Head of Commissioning in 2002. Irene was also the founding Content Director for the NZ On Screen website from 2009 till 2016. Irene is a board member for the producers' guild SPADA, and a member of the NZ Television Awards organising committee. She also works as a consultant Executive Producer, and as a television and radio commentator on screen and media issues. Irene began her career as a journalist working at the Dominion and Evening Post in Wellington. She then moved into television as a publicist before taking up a role as a trainee director. Irene's term with RNZ will be three years from 1 July 2023.

Jane Wrightson

Jane Wrightson is serving her second term as Retirement Commissioner. She came to the role from her position as the longstanding chief executive of NZ On Air, the public media funding agency. Prior to that, she was the chief executive of the Broadcasting Standards Authority, chief executive of the Screen Producers Association, and was New Zealand's first woman Chief Censor. She began her career with a 10-year stint at TVNZ. She's held various governance positions, and is currently Chair of Experience Wellington, a CCO. She holds an MBA with Distinction, a BA in literature, and is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors. Jane's term with RNZ will be three years from 1 July 2023. She chairs the Editorial Standards Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee.

Jim Mora

Jim Mora has worked across media, and has won national awards as a television journalist and as a columnist. He has also made and narrated a number of TV documentaries, and presented various television series. He is the author of children's books, and successful TV animations for children, which have screened in many countries around the world. Jim lives in Auckland with partner Mary Lambie, three children, a cat, and numerous bikes and scooters.

Mihimaraea Parata Gardiner

Mihimaraea Parata Gardiner is of Ngāti Porou descent with links to Mataatua, Te Arawa and Ngāi Tahu, and is currently an adviser for Te Puni Kōkiri in Tairāwhiti, leading efforts to help grow a highly skilled and capable Māori workforce through training and development and leading work in connecting rangatahi Māori with career pathways. She speaks Te Reo Māori and French, holds a BCA in Marketing, International Relations and Political Science, and has worked in both private and public sector organisations. She was Communications Coordinator for Te Matatini Kapa Haka National Festivals in 2017 and 2019.

Tim Watkin

Tim Watkin has worked in journalism for more than two decades, including at the New Zealand Herald, as deputy editor for the Listener, and more recently as a producer for TVNZ's Q+A and TV3's The Vote and The Nation. He has written for the Guardian and the Washington Post, blogs at Pundit.co.nz and is currently Executive Producer, Podcasts & Series at RNZ. Born in Palmerston North, Tim graduated from Massey University with a BA (NZ History) and Canterbury University (Postgrad Diploma in Journalism). He worked in student media before his first mainstream media job at the Manawatu Standard. He was won national awards for his work in newspapers, magazines, TV and radio, including Journalist of the Year in 2006. Tim joined RNZ in 2016 to lead the newly formed Podcast team and in four years has commissioned and launched more than 50 podcasts, which have won 18 awards and connected with tens of millions of listens.

Trevor Reekie

Trevor Reekie was the guitarist of seminal eighties electro group Car Crash Set, has two ambient solo albums under the name Cosa Nostra, and over ten years recorded four albums with the Greg Johnson Band. Trevor founded two Auckland based record labels, Pagan and Antenna. He is a freelance writer and broadcaster.
