Karen Allen

Mrs. Allen has been teaching art for several years at St. Joseph and substitute teaching in the Bardstown School System. Mrs. Allen is a Kentucky Certified Substitute Teacher and has many hours of training for special needs children. She has been involved with art most of her life in one form or another. Her great-great-grandmother, an artist, taught at Nazareth College. " I guess it is in my genes," she says. She enjoys painting and reading. Her strangest job was working as a maid at Hagan Townhouse Motel one summer. "It was an eye-opening experience," she says. Her favorite vacation was when she and her husband took the kids on a houseboat trip where they swam, fished, kayaked and tubed all week. A favorite childhood memory of hers is of playing badminton on summer nights with her family.

Mr. Curt Haun

Mr. Curt Haun is the Dean of Students/Athletic Director at St. Joseph School. He is in his 30th year in education. He spent seven years teaching special education and coaching football, basketball and softball at Radcliff Middle School and North Hardin High School for Hardin County Schools. He served two years at the Assistant Principal at Nelson County High School before moving into the principal's role at Grayson County High School, Carroll County High School, G. C. Burkhead Elementary School, Nelson County High School before retiring from Spencer County High School. After retiring from Spencer County in 2018, he began subbing in Hardin County Schools before taking an interim Assistant Principal position at Bluegrass Middle School. In July of 2019, Mr. Haun was hired at St. Joseph School. Mr. Haun is married to Shelly Haun who serves as the Media Specialist at North Middle School in Radcliff. They have four children: Hunter, Makenzie, Conner and Ian and two dogs, Teddy and Parker. Mr. Haun enjoys hunting, reading, riding his Harley and cheering on the Louisville Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys!

Mr. Patrick Miller

Mr. Patrick Miller was born in Louisville, Ky. He has a younger sister and a daughter. After graduating from Larue County High School, Mr. Miller went to Western Kentucky University where he received a B.S. in Physical Education and a Master's Degree. He has been teaching for many years at St. Joseph School. His favorite activities are reading, swimming, and playing and shopping with his daughter. Mr. Miller also enjoys watching baseball, basketball, football and golf. His favorite vacation was a 21-day European trip where he traveling to England, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. "The beauty of Switzerland is unbelievable (Wow!)" he said. While on the trip, he was able to see the Pope in Rome. A favorite childhood memory is of long summer nights playing with the neighborhood kids outside for hours.Mr. Miller's parents have been a positive influence on him. "They have always been in my corner. I know that I can trust them." he said. His daughter has also been a big influence. He says of her, "She is only a child but she is one of the best people I have ever been around." Mr. Miller enjoys getting to know the students, listening to them, talking to them, etc. He enjoy students that work hard. Mrs. Amanda Bradley

Mrs. Amanda Bradley attended St. Catharine in New Haven and graduated from Nelson County High School. She completed her Undergraduate Studies at the University of Kentucky and earned her Master's Degree from the University of the Cumberlands. Mrs. Bradley is married to her high school sweetheart, Trey. They have two children, Jack and Madelyn who both attend St. Joseph School. Mrs. Bradley enjoys being with family and friends in the great outdoors, and enjoys attending any type of sporting events.

Mrs. Angela Eby

Mrs. Angela Eby is a 3rd Grade teacher at St. Joseph School. She lives near Bloomfield with her husband, Wendel, and daughter, Molly. She received her Undergraduate Degree from Bellarmine University in Elementary Education and her Masters Degree in Early Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University. Prior to coming to St. Joseph, she spent 27 years teaching third grade at St. James Regional Catholic School in Elizabethtown. Mrs. Eby thinks third graders are awesome! She says, "There is nothing better than watching a student have an ah-ha moment." Mrs. Eby and her family enjoy camping and archery. Mrs. Eby also likes to watch and cheer on her daughter who is a member of the archery team at Bethlehem High School. Mrs. Eby has always loved school. She loves teaching in Catholic Schools. Mrs. Angela Krish

Mrs. Angela Krish was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary and Assumption High School. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's of Science in Education, with an emphasis in Literacy. Mrs. Krish is Kentucky Certified and has been a Kindergarten teacher at St. Joseph School for many years. Mrs. Krish is married and has two children, Ryan and Rachel. She enjoys pleasure reading, Yahtzee, and her favorite sport is basketball. Mrs. Krish describes her favorite trip as a cruise she and her husband took which included stops in the Bahamas and Nassau. "I will never forget how beautiful the water was!" she said. Her favorite childhood memory is of learning to water ski at 9. "I can still feel my dad holding me in position and helping me to get up out of the water. What a thrill when I finally got up!" she said. Other things she looks forward to include long relaxing weekends at Rough River, annual beach vacations and the company of friends and family, while cheering on the Louisville Cardinals. She describes the most rewarding part of teaching as being an inspiration and example for young children. "Their enthusiasm for learning at this age is motivation in itself."

Mrs. Audrey Carney

Mrs. Audrey Carney is the School Counselor for St. Joseph School as well as St. James School in Elizabethtown. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). Mrs. Carney earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Louisville and a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling at I.U.S. She was born in Louisville, Ky. She and her husband Scott Carney have a son and a daughter. Mrs. Carney enjoys traveling, boating and camping. She loves the water-both the lake and ocean. Her other interests include spending time with her family, scrap booking, and reading. Mrs. Carney's favorite trip was to Mackinac Island, Michigan and her favorite childhood memory is of spending time with her family at Kentucky Lake. Mrs. Carney describes her greatest accomplishment as writing her book, Holding On to Faith: Hope After Miscarriage and Loss, and her website which reaches out to other women and couples who have experienced a pregnancy loss: www.holdingontofaith.com. Mrs. Kara Lewis

Mrs. Kara Lewis was born in Lebanon, Kentucky. She has an Associates Degree from St. Catharine College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Campbellsville University and a Master of Arts in Education and a Rank 1, focusing on Language Arts from Eastern Kentucky University. She has a Kentucky Teaching Certificate in 5-12 Business and Marketing Education and 5-9 Language Arts. Mrs. Lewis was nominated for Ashland Teacher of the Year in 2006 and in 2013 she was named Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Standard. Mrs. Lewis and her husband Terry currently live on a small farm in Springfield. They have one son, Ben, who attends St. Joseph School. Mrs. Lewis enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Her favorite childhood memory is when her mother brought home an Apple computer from school one summer to learn how to use it. "I thought it was the best thing in the world and played Jeopardy all summer long!" Little known about Mrs. Lewis is that she has a ton of pet peeves, mostly about grammar! Her favorite part of teaching is getting to influence the next generation of leaders; helping to shape them into responsible, civic minded, community minded adults. Mrs. Katie Garrett

Mrs. Katie Garrett was born and raised on a farm in Lebanon, Ky. along with her three sisters. She moved to Bardstown when she and her husband, Chris, married. They have three children: Ted , Bella, and Ben. Mrs. Garrett comes from a long line of teachers. She has two sisters who teach and her mother, three of her aunts and an uncle are retired teachers. Her brother-in-law is a teacher as well as her mother-in-law who has over 30 years in the classroom. Mrs. Garrett received a Bachelors degree in Paralegal Science from Eastern Kentucky University. She received her Masters of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University and is currently working towards her Associate Catechism Degree. Aside from being a teacher at St. Joseph, Mrs. Garrett has been affiliated with the school for several years through her children's attendance, and her involvement with the volleyball program, Vacation Bible School, and substitute teaching. Her interests include working in the yard, helping on the farm-anything that gets her outside. She also enjoy scrapbooking and crafts . . . and still loves to color. Her favorite childhood memories are of working and playing with her sisters on the farm. "We have some good laughs thinking about things we did back then," she said. She counts three favorite vacations. The first was a honeymoon trip to Maui. She describes it by saying, "It was breathtaking. We can't wait to go back." The second favorite is all of their family vacations. According to Mrs. Garrett, a group of approximately 25 people always proves to be a great time. And thirdly was a girl trip to Key West, Florida. Little known facts about herself that Mrs. Garrett shares are that the only thing she's ever won was an inflatable canoe that lasted for half a trip to the river. Her claim to fame is that she was voted "Most Athletic" of her senior class alongside Anthony Epps. The best thing about teaching for Mrs. Garrett is affecting the children's lives and learning from the students. Mrs. Garrett credits her parents as the most positive influences in her life. "They are the hardest working individuals I know. My mother went to school to get her Masters, worked full time and raised four children while my father worked 12-hour shifts at GE and farmed. My father, who is over 65, still works 13 to 14 hour days in the heat of summer and the coldest of winter farming three farms. Their determination and hard work is something to aspire to. My second most positive influence is Sister Susan Gatz, SCN. She is the most compassionate, kind-hearted, understanding and funny woman I have ever met. Mrs. Katrina Ballard

Mrs. Katrina Ballard lives in Bardstown with her husband Pat and their two boys. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville and her master's degree from Bellarmine University. Math and science are her favorite subjects to teach. Mrs. Ballard says, "My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the look on kids' faces when they learn something new and they finally understand it, especially if at first they thought it was too hard and didn't think they could do it. I love seeing their pride of accomplishment." Mrs. Ballard loves to scrapbook and take pictures. She also loves to travel and explore new places, especially the beach and tropical areas. Her favorite trip was going to Hawaii. She visited Maui and Oahu, and says she would love to go back there one day, maybe even to live part-time! On a snow day, Mrs. Ballard likes to read a book and play with her kids in the snow. Describing her favorite childhood memory, Mrs. Ballard says, "My favorite memory as a child was when I spent a couple weeks driving on a road trip with my brother and grandparents one summer when I was in high school. We went out West and didn't really have a set schedule. We had a few places we wanted to stop and just stopped at other places that looked interesting. I hope to do that with my kids one day." Mrs. Kristy Hutchins

Mrs. Kristy Hutchins is a first grade teacher at St. Joseph. Prior to teaching first grade she taught a 3-year-old preschool class at St. Joseph. She has a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education from the University of Louisville and a master's degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Kristy was born and raised in Bardstown. Hobbies: Reading, traveling to new places, going to concerts, and music

Mrs. Penny Bradley

Mrs. Penny Bradley is the Principal at St. Joseph School. She is entering her 31st year in education. She spent 10 years teaching special education and business in Hardin and Hart County. Mrs. Bradley then spent 17 years as an administrator in Nelson County. She was an Assistant Principal at Nelson County High School for 13 years and the Principal at Horizons Academy (the alternative school for Nelson County) for four years. After Mrs. Bradley retired, she spent one full year away from education except for an occasional subbing. She realized that she missed the interaction with students, so after that year spent 8 months teaching special education at Foster Heights Elementary. Mrs. Bradley came to St. Joseph as Assistant Principal in 2018 and became Principal in the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs. Bradley has two boys, KC and John. They were both adopted from Guatemala when they were infants. Both boys attend Nelson County High School and are very involved in the marching band. Mrs. Bradley and her late husband, Don, were married for 34 years. In 2019 Mrs. Bradley completed the RCIA process at St. Joseph and was received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. Mrs. Bradley enjoys watching her kids in the band and doing all things that band moms do! She is also a huge UK fan in all sports and the Atlanta Braves. Just for you UofL fans, she cheers for them as long as they are not playing Kentucky!

Mrs. Shawn Bond

Mrs. Shawn Bond was born in Lebanon, Ky. and graduated from Marion High School. Mrs. Bond has a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master's Degree from Western Kentucky University. She is Kentucky certified to teach elementary grades 1-8. She has been teaching for many years, all of them at St. Joseph School. Mrs. Bond and her husband Brian, have a son, Hayden. Her favorite pastime is reading. She also enjoys going to the lake, boating, visiting amusement parks and watching NASCAR races with her husband and son. Her favorite vacation was her honeymoon trip to Jamaica. Mrs. Bond says of being a teacher, "Teaching has taught me so much about patience, tolerance, love and communication. I am the student as well as the teacher."

Ms. Patricia Butler was born in Bardstown, Ky. She has been a preschool teacher and co-director for many years, all at St. Joseph School. Her students fondly refer to her as "Miss Patricia." Ms. Butler has an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education from St. Catharine College and an Associate Catechist Certificate. She received the St. Catharine College Distinguished Graduate Award. Ms. Butler is one of ten children, seven girls and three boys. She has one daughter, Tamara Butler who lives in Lexington, Ky. and works at St. Joseph Hospital. Her favorite activities include walking, watching her great nieces and nephews play sports, going to the park, listening to music, and working in her yard. She also enjoy shopping and spending time with her daughter. Her favorite vacation was to Virginia Beach, where she enjoyed the late night walks on the beach, watching the sun set and seeing the early morning sunrise. A favorite childhoold memory is of going on family weekend fishing trips. Ms. Butler identifies John Phillips as someone who had a positive influence on her. She says of him, "He inspires me to believe in myself and the ability to get things done." The best part of teaching for her is seeing the faces of the children once they understand the task and become comfortable with their daily routine. Mrs. Valerie Brooks was born in Clayton Co., Georgia. She has been a teacher for several years at St. Joseph School. After graduating from high school at Pleasure Ridge Park, she received a B.A. in Biology with a concentration in Cellular and Molecular Biology from U. of L. and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine and a Rank II. She and her husband Ronnie have two daughters, Avery and Hadley. Her favorite activities are reading and shopping, Mrs. Brooks' favorite vacation spot is DISNEYWORLD! Her favorite childhood memories include going to the beach with her father and spending the weekends with her grandparents in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mrs. Brooks has been studying her family history and recently discovered that her grandfather is a full-blooded Cherokee Indian, while her maternal great-grandparents were part Cherokee. In the past, she had learned that her ancestors walked the Trail of Tears. She says, "The removal of Native Americans from their territories and how some live now is a story that sometimes saddens me." Her favorite part of teaching is that every day is new and one never knows what to expect.
