Summerville Catholic School is located near downtown Summerville, South Carolina, 30 miles northwest of Charleston, South Carolina. In June of 1984, Bishop Ernest Unterkoefler, the tenth Bishop of Charleston, officially announced there would be a Catholic school in the Summerville area, a rapidly growing community. Under the leadership of Monsignor Richard Madden, the school opened in August 1984, utilizing the religious education center at St. John the Beloved..
