Adam Brooks joined the University of Virginia Academic Affairs staff in August 2009. In 2021 he was named Director of Academics and in 2022 he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Academics and Student Development. Brooks works with the UVA football team, men's lacrosse squad and the men's and women's tennis programs.
Brooks conducts regular mentoring sessions with student-athletes, monitors eligibility and progress toward degree, and assists in areas such as course selection, major declaration, and career planning.
Prior to UVa, Brooks earned his Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from The University of Akron in 2008 while serving as a graduate assistant in Academic Support Services. Brooks worked primarily with at-risk student-athletes in developing individualized academic plans, implementing learning strategies and study skills, and making effective academic decisions. He also spent time as an intern in Athletics Development, helping create the "Adopt-a-Zip" program and generating revenue for the student-athlete scholarship fund.
A native of Bluffton, Ohio, Brooks earned his Bachelor of Education in Integrated Social Studies from Ashland University in 2007.

Adam Smotherman joined the Virginia staff in December 2021 as the head football strength and conditioning coach.
Smotherman came to UVA after spending nine seasons on the Clemson football strength and conditioning staff. His tenure at Clemson included nine seasons (2013-21) as a full-time coach and one year (2011-12) as a graduate assistant. Smotherman previously worked as the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Furman from 2012-13. He interned in the weight room at his alma mater, Vanderbilt, in 2011.
A native of Smyrna, Tenn., Smotherman is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) by the CSCCA, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the NSCA, a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach (SPC) certified through USA Weightlifting, and a Specialist in Sports Nutrition (SSN) certified by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).
Smotherman was a four-year letterman and multi-year starter at defensive tackle at Vanderbilt. He earned the team's Ironman Lineman Award three times, the Lifter of the Year Award two times, the Dedication Award, and was elected team co-captain his senior year. A graduate of Smyrna (Tenn.) High School, he won the Tennessee 5A Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Award as a senior. In 1019 he was inducted into Smyrna High School's hall of fame.
Smotherman earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education and history from Vanderbilt and a master's degree in youth development leadership from Clemson. He is married to the former Lindsey Whitworth of Columbia, S.C. The couple has a son, Jack, and a daughter, Caroline.

Alyssa Hendry is in her first season as Virginia rowing's Athletic Trainer and also serves as the secondary contact for UVA's swimming and diving program. She is responsible for assisting with the overall daily healthcare of UVA student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for injuries and illnesses.
Hendry is a two-time graduate from Washington State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine in 2021 and master's degree in Athletic Training in 2022. As graduate student, she served as a Student Athletic Trainer for the Cougars' track & field and cross country teams. As an undergraduate student, Hendry provided medical coverage for WSU's football, women's basketball, rowing, volleyball and women's soccer programs.
Hendry currently holds certifications in blood flow restriction, instrumented assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), mental health first aid, American Heart Association lifesaver CPR & first aid and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
A native of Tustin, California, Hendry enjoys cooking, exercising and spending time at the beach. She currently resides in Charlottesville.

Alyssa Tolentino joined the Virginia athletics department in the spring of 2023 working with the women's volleyball and women's golf teams. Prior to coming to UVA, Tolentino spent two-and-a-half years working at the University of Miami primarily with their women's volleyball team and assisting with their women's rowing team.
Tolentino completed her master's degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation sciences at Hawaii in 2020. While a graduate student at Hawaii, Tolentino was responsible for the care of football and their women's beach volleyball team, while assisting with men's golf and women's cross country.
Tolentino earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training at Alabama working with a variety of teams including the 2018 college football national championship team.
Tolentino is currently a member of NATA and resides in Charlottesville with her rescue dog Kolohe.

Andrea "Andii" Taylor joined the Virginia athletics department in the Spring of 2023 working with the women's lacrosse team and summer camps. Taylor came to UVA after an internship with the United States Naval Academy working with the volleyball and women's lacrosse teams.
Prior to working at Navy, Taylor completed her master's degree in exercise science at Texas State. While a graduate student in Texas, Taylor worked all the in-season sports at an area high school and assisted with NCAA DI Women's Basketball COVID-19 testing protocols in San Antonio in 2021.
A native of Silver Spring, Md., Taylor earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training at Frostburg State. While at Frostburg, Taylor worked with a variety of Bobcats' teams including football, baseball and women's lacrosse. Taylor is also a member of National Athletic Trainers' Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Taylor enjoys exercising, cooking and spending time with loved ones. She currently resides in Charlottesville with her rescue dog - Scoob.

Andrea Fortunati has been an assistant athletic trainer at Virginia since 2018, where she works with the men's and women's swim and dive teams. Fortunati is responsible for the overall daily health care of UVA student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for injuries and illnesses.Prior to coming to Virginia, Fortunati spent time at Michigan for a post-graduate fellowship program. There, she worked with the track and field and cross country teams, then became the primary athletic trainer with the men's and women's tennis teams. During her time at Michigan, she assisted as a team leader with Gatorade.
Fortunati received her bachelors degree in athletic training from Vermont in 2014. She completed her master's degree in kinesiology at the University of Connecticut, where she worked for the Korey Stringer Institute as the Assistant Director of Elite Athlete Health and Performance for Team Sports, and at a local high school as a co-head athletic trainer. Following this, she worked at Quinnipiac University as an athletic trainer with the volleyball team.Fortunati has been involved in a variety of research endeavors focusing on NCAA men's soccer athletes, and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

Andrew Sadler joined the Virginia Athletics Foundation in December 2023 and currently serves as the director of annual giving. In this role, he provides overall leadership for the VAF's annual giving program. Sadler solicits financial support to gather the resources necessary to pay for the maximum number of 316.6 scholarships for UVA's 27 varsity sport programs.
Sadler joined the VAF after spending the last five years with the University of Georgia Athletic Association (UGAAA) and The Georgia Bulldog Club (TGBC). He joined TGBC in September 2019 and served in various roles as an intern, graduate assistant, assistant director of development for annual giving, and associate director of development. Sadler solicited financial support for Georgia student- athletes through aiding all annual giving efforts. He coordinated the fundraising efforts for the Georgia Baseball Fund, Gymnastics Excellence Fund, Women's Basketball Fund and Men's Basketball Fund. He also assisted in the fundraising efforts of annual giving and priority seating for football. He asked for support of the $300 million comprehensive Commit to the G campaign for Athletics through working with donors in the Magill Society.
Sadler joined the UGAAA in August 2018 and worked as a marketing and sales intern. He administered the student internship program, which included supervising a team of 22 undergraduate students while working alongside Learfield Amplify. Sadler oversaw the execution of "Experiences" on football game days to create memorable experiences for donors and fans, while generating revenue for the department.
Before joining the UGAAA, Sadler served as a lead marketing intern for Xavier University's athletic department. He assisted with game day event operations, sponsorship fulfillment, giveaway distribution, and executing in-game promotions.
Sadler earned a master of science in sport management and policy, as well as a certificate in nonprofit management and leadership from Georgia in December 2021. Sadler received a bachelor of science in sport management from Xavier University in May 2018.

Armani Dawkins joined the Virginia athletics department in August of 2023 as the deputy athletics director for competitive excellence. She is also UVA's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) to conference and NCAA governance groups. Dawkins came to Virginia after working at Oklahoma for five years, including as the Sooners' deputy athletics director for sports administration in her last position.
Dawkins serves as a collaborative liaison to all areas of the athletics department with a focus on student-athlete and sports program success. She is responsible for day-to-day oversight of student development, departmental strategic planning and serve as the departmental Title IX liaison. Dawkins is the sport administrator for the Cavalier women's basketball and men's lacrosse programs. She provides additional leadership and support to head coaches and student-athletes in all sports.
At Oklahoma, Dawkins served as a member of the executive leadership team and was responsible for the supervision of head coaches and management of the sport administrator program for all 21 varsity sports. She was the liaison to all areas within the athletics department that interacted and supported sports programs and was responsible for monitoring the student-athlete experience, academic progress and welfare.
Dawkins was Oklahoma's senior woman administrator, which included the oversight of roster management, gender equity, risk management, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and monitoring NCAA governance issues while contributing to the University's position on new NCAA legislation.
She was the sport administrator for men's and the women's gymnastics programs, men's and women's track and field and cross country programs and women's soccer program.
Prior to being promoted at Oklahoma to deputy athletics director of sports administration, Dawkins served as the deputy athletics director for administration & chief of staff and the senior associate athletics director & chief of staff. Dawkins had oversight of the department's strategic plan, people and culture and served as a professional advisor to the vice president and director of athletics.
Before joining the Sooners' athletics department, Dawkins worked at the College of the Holy Cross where she held the position of associate director of athletics for student-athlete development. She was a member of the Crusaders' senior athletics staff and was responsible for implementing a series of programming to emphasize and improve the development and welfare of the department's nearly 700 student-athletes. She also served as the sport administrator for the field hockey program.
Dawkins worked at Duke from 2010 to 2015. Her last position with the Blue Devils was special assistant to the vice president and director of athletics. She handled oversight responsibilities for the athletics director's routine commitments, including public relations obligations and correspondence. In addition, Dawkins assisted the director of athletics with responsibilities for the Division I NCAA men's basketball committee, United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee and Advocates for Athletic Equity. She also had oversight responsibility for all the executive administrative operations. She previously held positions at Duke as the assistant director of Iron Dukes for special events and assistant director of administrative operations and human resources.
Dawkins (née Rice), a native of Parker, Colo., is a former women's soccer student-athlete at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she received her bachelor's degree in journalism and media studies. She helped lead the squad to three Mountain West Conference titles while earning Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors. She played her freshman season at Florida State before transferring to UNLV.
Dawkins earned her master's degree in strategic public relations from George Washington. She also was selected as the NCAA postgraduate intern within the branding and communications department.
Dawkins's family includes her husband Andre, son Maverick, and dog Ares.

Austin Kaigler joined the Virginia football program in January of 2023 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He previously worked for the Duke football program from 2018 as the assistant director of sports performance.
Kaigler has also served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Youngstown State from May 2017 to February 2018, working with the Penguins' football and softball programs as well as the track sprinters and hurdlers.
Kaigler arrived at Youngstown State after a strength and conditioning internship at the University of Alabama in the spring of 2017. With the Crimson Tide, Kaigler's primary focus was with the football, baseball and men's tennis programs. Kaigler spent five months as a strength and conditioning intern at LSU in the fall of 2016.
A native of Huntsville, Ala., Kaigler earned a degree in exercise science in 2016 from Liberty University, where he was a member of the football program as a running back. He is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association - CSCS, and FRCms.

Barry Parkhill was appointed the associate director of athletics for development in 1998. He previously served dual roles as director of alumni development for the UVA Alumni Association and director of capital projects for athletics. Before that, he spent three years as associate director of regional development in UVA's Office of Development.
Parkhill's first association with the University began in the fall of 1969 when he enrolled as a scholarship basketball player. From 1970-73, he established himself as one of the greatest all-purpose guards in Atlantic Coast Conference history. He was named the ACC Basketball Player of the Year and ACC Athlete of the Year as a junior in 1972 after leading the conference in scoring. Virginia posted a 21-7 record that season and advanced to postseason play (NIT) for the second time in school history. Following his senior season, the two-time All-American was a first-round draft choice by both the Virginia Squires of the American Basketball Association and the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association.
The second player in school history to have his jersey number (#40) retired, Parkhill earned his bachelor's degree in education from UVA in 1973. He then played three seasons in the ABA, first with the Squires and later with the St. Louis Spirits. He returned to his alma mater in 1977 to serve as a graduate assistant coach under former head coach Terry Holland.
In the following years, Parkhill was the head basketball coach at The College of William and Mary (1984-87) and St. Michael's College (1989-90). In between those two head coaching positions, he worked as a consultant with Blue Cross & Blue Shield Insurance Company. He served as an assistant coach at William and Mary from 1978-83 under his brother Bruce and at the Naval Academy from 1990-92
He and his wife, Pat, have a son, Chris, daughter and son-in-law, Jill and David Kavanagh and 4 grandkids, Dylan, Michael, Treeki and Andrew.

Bill Bunting joined the UVa media relations staff as an assistant director in August of 2015. He works with the sports of women's soccer, wrestling, women's tennis and softball.Before joining the Cavalier staff, Bunting spent 14 years working at Ole Miss, serving as the primary contact for volleyball (2002-11), soccer (2012-14), softball (2014-15) and baseball (2006-14). In his time with the Rebels, Bunting hosted six NCAA Regionals and three NCAA Super Regionals in baseball as well as women's soccer NCAA Tournament first-round games. Bunting helped publicize and promote his student-athletes for national honors, with his players garnering 30 All-America, 32 All-SEC, and seven freshman All-America accolades.
Bunting is also a graduate of Mississippi and its honors program, earning a bachelor of arts, journalism and history.

Billy Gentry has been an assistant athletic trainer at Virginia since 2022, where he works with the football teams and spirit squads. Gentry is responsible for the overall daily health care of UVA student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for injuries and illnesses.
Prior to coming to UVA, Gentry spent one year with the San Francisco 49ers as a seasonal intern athletic trainer. Before working with the 49ers, he worked for one year as a resident athletic trainer with football at Virginia Tech.
Prior to his residency, Gentry completed his master's degree at Virginia Tech where he worked with the men's and women's tennis teams for one year and the football team for one year. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a bachelor of arts in exercise and sports science with a focus in athletic training and a bachelor of arts in chemistry. While studying at UNC, Gentry also completed an athletic training summer internship with the Arizona Cardinals.

C.J. Stalker is in his fifth season at Virginia and fourth as a football analyst. He spent his first season on staff in 2019 as a defensive graduate assistant.
Stalker is a three-year letterwinner at Virginia who appeared in 20 career games for the Cavaliers. He made a career-high three tackles in the 2017 Military Bowl.
Stalker collected 13 career tackles with a season-best eight in 2017. He spent all of the 2018 season on headset assisting by calling defensive plays in.
Stalker, a native of West Chester, Ohio, is a 2018 graduate of Virginia with a degree in foreign affairs. Stalker also earned a masters degree in higher education in 2019. He played high school football for Lakota West High School.

Drew Meyer is in his seventh season at Virginia and fourth as a football analyst for special teams. Meyer spent the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons as a graduate assistant at Virginia, working with the defense and special teams.
Meyer is a former All-Big Ten punter from Wisconsin, earning four letters for the Badgers. Punting for Wisconsin from 2012-15, Meyer left Madison with more punts (256) than anyone in program history. He left Wisconsin third on the team's career punting yardage list (10,125 yards) and eighth all-time in punt average (39.8 yards per punt). Meyer is also tied for the program record for games played with 54.
Meyer, a native of Hartland, Wis., is a 2016 graduate of Wisconsin with a degree in agricultural business management. He played high school football at Arrowhead High School. In 2016 Meyer started his coaching career at his alma mater, Arrowhead High School, working with special teams.
