Alex McKelvie is Interim Dean at the Whitman School of Management. Prior to that appointment, he was Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Master's Education for four years. In that role, he led Whitman's efforts to create new partnerships with other schools across the Syracuse University campus, offer innovative and impactful learning experiences for students, diversify the student body and grow new programs. These efforts led to record high rankings for Whitman's undergraduate and MBA programs, among other positive outcomes.
Prior to his role as associate dean, he was the Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises (EEE). During his term as Chair, the EEE program experienced a period of growth and innovation. The program received national and international recognition for excellence in research and educational programming as well.
Since his arrival at Syracuse in 2007, McKelvie has taught a broad array of courses dealing with different aspects of entrepreneurship, including strategic planning, growth, new venture development, family business, and corporate entrepreneurship. He has also taken a leading role in developing and teaching world-class programs, including designing new courses and training programs for Syracuse University's Institute for Veteran and Military Families.
McKelvie has received teaching awards from Syracuse University, the Whitman School of Management, the EEE department, and his former university in Sweden. In 2020, he was named a Justin Longenecker Fellow from USASBE, the highest honor they provide for contributions to support SMEs. He has worked with many entrepreneurial startups across the US, Sweden, and other places around the world.
His research deals with questions regarding two main areas: how and why do firms grow and how do entrepreneurs make decisions with an emphasis on factors such as opportunities, dealing with uncertainty, effectuation, failure, and addiction. McKelvie's research has received a number of major international awards, including the best doctoral dissertation in entrepreneurship from the National Federation of Independent Businesses and multiple awards at leading entrepreneurship conferences. McKelvie has published his work in the most influential entrepreneurship journals and he is on the editorial review boards of multiple journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Family Business Review. His work has also been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Inc. Magazine, among other outlets. He is a Fortune Insider and on the CNBC Disruptor Advisory Council.

Alison Kessler is the director of alumni engagement at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has amassed more than 25 years of experience in strategic program development, relationship management, and integrated marketing communications in the higher education, corporate, agency, not-for-profit, and government sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Diane Crawford is executive director for institutional culture. Crawford most recently served as president of Diversity & Inclusion Professionals of Central Pennsylvania, providing professional development and networking for diversity and inclusion practitioners throughout the region. Her previous roles include diversity & inclusion global manager for the Hershey Company, where her responsibilities included establishing Hershey's first employee Business Resource Groups: Women, LGBTQ, African American, Latino, Asian American, Veterans, Abilities First and Young Professional. While at Hershey, she was also responsible for developing community partnerships between the company and nationwide community organizations. In addition, she has served as a career advisor for a unique skills-to-work program under the Harrisburg Area Community College Workforce Development Department. Crawford holds a bachelor's degree in applied behavioral science and a master's of education, both from Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Mike Haynie is Syracuse University's Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation, and also the Barnes Professor of Entrepreneurship. In 2018, Syracuse University named Haynie a University Professor, the most senior rank awarded to faculty at the University. Over the nearly 150-year history of Syracuse University, the institution has honored less than twenty individuals with the rank and title of University Professor.
As Vice Chancellor, Dr. Haynie leads a broad portfolio of responsibility centers and innovation initiatives, including the University's robust portfolio of entrepreneurship and innovation programs, and cross-campus efforts to develop and enhance academic offerings for online and nontraditional students. Haynie also oversees the University's government and community engagement strategy, as well as defense- and veteran-connected programs and initiatives across the Institution.
In 2011, Haynie founded Syracuse University's Institute for Veterans & Military Families (IVMF), the nation's first interdisciplinary institute created to inform and advance the policy, economic, and wellness concerns of the America's veterans and families. Today IVMF programs serve over 25,000 veterans annually, and the Institute is widely acknowledged as the nation's leading academic voice related to issues impacting veterans and military-connected families. In 2013, Dr. Haynie's efforts on behalf of veterans were the subject of a feature story by the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes, titled "Succeeding as Civilians."
Haynie is regarded as one of the world's leading scholars related to entrepreneurial decision-making and strategy, and his research has been published in many of the world's leading entrepreneurship and business journals. Dr. Haynie currently serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Business Venturing, the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, the Journal of Management Studies, and is an associate editor for the Journal of Military, Veteran and Family Health. Over the past decade, his academic work has consistently garnered significant federal, state, foundation, and philanthropic funding.
Dr. Haynie has received numerous awards for his scholarship, teaching, and community engagement, and he routinely provides counsel to private and public sector leaders on issues related to small business, innovation, and veterans. In 2013, Haynie was appointed by the Obama Administration to serve as the Chairman of the U.S. Department of Labor's Federal Advisory Committee on Veterans' Employment and Training. In 2015, the White House asked Haynie to serve again, this time as the vice chairman of a newly created Presidential Task Force, chartered to set the course for long-term reform at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. In 2019, Haynie was named to the prestigious HillVets100 list of the nation's 100 most influential veterans, service members and veteran-community advocates. The following year, Advancing Diversity inducted him into its Hall of Honors for his commitment of diversity, equality and inclusion and Time magazine selected him as one of 16 people and groups fighting for a more equal America. In addition, Dr. Haynie is a current appointee to the CNBC Disruptor 50 Council - a group of world's leading thinkers in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, who each year identify the 50 new ventures most likely to disrupt established industries and markets. Haynie also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Naval Health Research Center's "Millennium Cohort Research Study," and on the advisory board to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's Veterans Coming Home project.
Haynie's academic and advocacy work is often featured by the media, to include on the ABC Evening News, CBS News, CNBC, CNN, and Fox, and in print at outlets such as The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, INC Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, the Chronicle of Higher-Education, Fortune, and Entrepreneur Magazine. Dr. Haynie is also a frequent contributor of opinion editorials to major media outlets that have included the New York Times, The Hill, the New York Daily News, PolicyMic, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Wall Street Journal.
Haynie completed his PhD in Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy at the University of Colorado at Boulder, his MBA at the University of Oregon, and his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Delaware. Before beginning his academic career at Syracuse University, Haynie served for 14 years as an officer in the United States Air Force.
Professor Haynie's research is focused on investigating entrepreneurial decision-making, identity, and cognition. His research has been presented at the top entrepreneurship conferences and published in prestigious academic and industry journals.

Dr. Willie Reddic is an associate professor in the Joseph L. Lubin School of Accounting at the Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University. Prior to his stint at Syracuse, he worked as an associate dean of programs and curriculum at the Driehaus College of Business and the Kellstadt College of Business at DePaul University.
Dr. Reddic has more than a decade of experience working in corporate executive training. He has worked with Jones, Lang, Lasalle (JLL), Northern Trust Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, McDonalds, Reebok, and Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). He has taught financial & managerial accounting at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Currently, he is teaching data analytics and decision making at the graduate level at Syracuse University.
His academic research interests include the portfolio rebalancing, earnings management, and auditing in regulated environments. Dr. Reddic has conducted numerous research studies focused on portfolio rebalancing in the insurance industry, including a project that was awarded a grants by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC - CRSH) Research Grant and the MetLife Foundation. His academic research has been published in top journals and presented at prestigious academic conferences.
He is an active member of the PhD Project Faculty Alumni Association and the American Accounting Association. Dr. Reddic received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and MIS from Chico State University, his Masters' in Finance from University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign, and his Doctorate from Syracuse University.

Kevin Coates is executive director for administration and strategic initiatives for the Whitman School. He comes to Whitman from Cornell University where he was associate director of administration, a position responsible for analytics, financial metrics and reporting. Coates was instrumental in building a business intelligence team for Cornell's alumni affairs and development office. He also has served in various financial roles, from reporting and analyzing data to creating budget and gap/forecasting models. He earned a bachelor of business administration from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute in Utica, New York.

Among her professional experiences, she led a portfolio of entrepreneurship training programs at the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University that reached over 30,000 military service connected individuals. One notable program in this portfolio (V-WISE) was for women veterans, which Florkowski grew into a nationally-recognized program that reached over 2,000 women veterans across 49 states.
During her time with the V-WISE program, her work was highlighted in over 75 media outlets, including Entrepreneur Magazine, MSNBC, the Washington Post and Military Times. The V-WISE program was recognized in 2015 by Harvard's Kennedy School as a bright idea.
Florkowski also worked in employer relations at Le Moyne College, as an operations manager for the USO, as a military transition career training leader in Europe, and as a captain in the U.S. Army, among other positions.
She earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering psychology from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a master of science in exercise science and health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania.

Patrick Penfield is a Professor of Practice - Supply Chain Management and Director of Executive Education at the Whitman School of Management - Syracuse University. He has his Ph.D.in Sustainable Resource Management and is Certified in Purchasing Management (CPM), Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM) and Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM). He was voted Faculty of the Year at the Whitman School of Management in 2007 & 2018, selected for the prestigious Syracuse University Meredith Teaching award in 2009 and in 2015 received the Oberwager award for engagement with students. Penfield has over 15 years of industry experience in Supply Chain Management & Manufacturing working for such companies as the Raymond Corporation, Johnson & Johnson and Philips Electronics. Professor Penfield's research focuses on Forestry, Natural Resource Management and Sustainability. Dr. Penfield has appeared on Good Morning America, NBC, CBS & ABC Evening News, SiriusXM Road Dog Trucking and has done several print media interviews with USA Today, Reuters, Fox, CNN, Bloomberg, Time, Newsweek and several other trade magazines and news media outlets.
