BGCSM

Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. So many children today, underprivileged and upper class, boys and girls of all races, turn to the streets, gangs and crime because they do not have a positive role model in which to turn. And some children just need a safe place to call their own. That's why BGCSM is more important than ever... BGCSM is a critical support to families and to its surrounding communities. Nationwide, violent juvenile crime rates double when most schools let children out, and Maryland has the highest rate of alcohol use by 8th graders in the United States... Empowering youth to become leaders, BGCSM provides opportunities for members to sustain meaningful relationships, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others' cultural identities.
