BPU is a municipality owned utility that has been providing electric, water, and wastewater services to the City of Brainerd, portions of the City of Baxter, and surrounding townships since 1892... The hydro dam is a valuable asset to BPU because it provides a reliable source of renewable energy that is environmentally friendly. As a public utility company, BPU is committed to being a responsible steward of the environment and reducing its carbon footprint. By using the hydro dam to generate electricity, BPU is able to reduce its reliance on non-renewable energy sources and decrease harmful emissions...
