Together with collaborative non-profits, teachers, parents, donors, and volunteers, Children First/Communities In Schools delivers highly accountable, evidence-based direct services; positive child and parent relationships; open hearts and helping hands; and aspirational advocacy to ensure all children can thrive... We work to strengthen relationships with children and families by keeping students on track for academic success while using public policy to build a more family-friendly, affordable Buncombe County... We provide direct services to children in five local schools, including Student Support Specialists in schools, after school enrichment at our Learning Centers, and summer programming. We support children and families with our Family Resource Centers that include food pantries, school supplies, and emergency financial assistance. We also mobilize advocates on family-friendly policies at the local, state, and federal levels. Our Project POWER AmeriCorps team members increase..
