COPA is committed to creating and building a culture that supports all our dancers, families and our community... Instructor I grew up down the road in Hillsborough and moved to Burlington in 2005. I started dancing around the age of 4 at Hillsborough School of Dance with Mrs. Orpah Hamlett. After falling in love with tap dancing I joined Gene Medler in Chapel Hill. Under his direction I became a member of his first tap company TCTC which later became NCYTE. Between Mrs. Hamlett and Gene Medler I had the opportunities to take classes from some of the tap world's greats including Brenda Bufalino, Gregory Hines, Dianne Walker, Henry LeTang, Debbi Dee and many others. After graduating from East Carolina University with a BS in Dance Education I taught dance in Hillsborough for 10 years. I took a break from dance for a few years as my family transitioned to Burlington. During this break I became a dance mom and remained a dance mom until my daughters graduated high school.
