Dan Suckley serves as Councilmember representing District 4. See all City Council Members » Dan Suckley was born in Ohio and grew to the age of 16 in Michigan. Dan moved to Corpus Christi in 1983 and is a 1985 Honors Graduate from Flour Bluff High School. Dan graduated from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi with a B.B.A. in Accounting. Dan is a current resident of Flour Bluff and former long-time resident of Padre Island. Dan's family includes his wife, Rosanne, of 27 years, who coincidentally he met his first day of work at American Bank. Rosanne has worked there as well for more than 34 years. Dan has two children, one son and one daughter, who are both Flour Bluff High School graduates. Brendan is 23 years old and a recent graduate from Rice University where he graduated with a mechanical engineering degree and played football for four years. He is now at Texas A&M- College Station where he is graduating May 2023 with an accelerated Masters degree in Business. Dan's daughter Elyse is 22 years old and is a senior at Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. She is majoring in Marketing. She is currently working for BucDays and additionally has been a server at Doc's for the past three years. Dan is a Senior Lending Officer at American Bank where he has been employed for more than 31 years.

Everett A. Roy

Everett Roy serves as Councilmember representing District 1. See all City Council Members here » Everett A. Roy was born and raised in Ohio. He moved to California for college and in 1982 joined the U.S. Army. He served proudly for 10 years in the Army Medical Department which included a deployment to Saudi Arabia and Iraq during Desert Storm. Mr. Roy has a Bachelor's degree in Business from Chaminade University and a Master's degree in Management from Webster University. Early in his civilian career he worked in managed health care and in 1998 transitioned into banking. In addition to owning his own mortgage brokerage, Everett has worked for several banks and financial organizations. His residential and commercial lending experience is vast and he is currently a Branch President for ValueBank Texas. An avid servant leader, Mr. Roy was appointed and then elected to Corpus Christi City Council District 1 from 2018 - 2021. He has volunteered and been selected for numerous non-profits, committees, and boards throughout his career. A family man, Everett has been married for 31 years. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their beautiful children.

Jim Klein

  • Professor of History at Del Mar College
Jim Klein is a Professor of History at Del Mar College having earned a Ph.D. in this field from Oklahoma State University for his dissertation entitled "A Social History of Prohibition in Oklahoma, 1900-1920". He has since studied the history of liquor policy in Georgia and south Texas as well. Jim has taught United States History at Del Mar College since 2006 and currently chairs the DMC Curriculum Committee. Jim has served on the Corpus Christi Landmark Commission, including a stint as that body's Chair. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Nueces County Historical Commission and currently serves as Vice Chair of that organization. Jim has served as President of the DMC chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and as President of the Texas Conference of the AAUP (as of 2022 affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers) and currently serves as President of the Texas Association of College Teachers. Jim has been involved in numerous community groups. He is a founding member of the Clean Economy Coalition and serves as that body's Chair. In that capacity, he has served on the Corpus Christi Cole and Ropes Park (CARP) Committee tasked with devising an Implementation Plan to reduce bacteria levels in Corpus Christi Bay. Jim also chairs the Coastal Bend Sierra Club group, representing members living in Corpus Christi and in eighteen counties surrounding the city. He is a founding member of the Coastal Alliance to Protect our Environment, an alliance of twenty-two local environmental groups. He also serves as a board member for the Corpus Christi TaxPayers Association. With the help of many supporters, Jim was elected to a Corpus Christi City Council At Large seat in 2022.

Michael T. Hunter is an at-large member of the Corpus Christi City Council. Hunter was appointed to the council on March 8, 2015. He fills the vacancy left by Lillian Riojas, who resigned from the council in February, 2015. Hunter's previous experience includes working as an account executive at Borden Insurance. He is the son of State Representative Todd Hunter.

Roland Barrera

Roland Barrera serves as Councilmember representing District 3. See all City Council Members » Roland Barrera provides consulting and risk management services to individuals, business owners and public agencies. He has been serving clients with insurance, financial services and employee benefits for over 25 years. His agency has been recognized by the National Association of Health Underwriters as a Distinguished Member of the Leading Producers Round Table. Roland has been actively involved in Texas politics for many years and has been a strong advocate for small business, insurance issues, children's issues, public transportation and immigration reform. He was elected to the Corpus Christi City Council serving District 3 in 2018. Roland serves as Board Member for the National Association of Health Underwriters Political Action Committee and as a board member of Texas Bridge Credit Union. In his career, Roland has served as Chair of several committees, including the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA), the Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee for Texas, and the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce. He was also President of the Coastal Bend Children's Advocacy Center and President of the Corpus Christi Kiwanis Club. Roland is a graduate of the Leadership Corpus Christi Program (Class XL). Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Roland is a Moody High School Alumnus and a Del Mar College Alumnus. He is the proud parent of three grown children, Richard, Amber, Zach and grandfather to Ella Rae and Atlas James Rosales. He is a parishioner of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church where he sings in the choir.

Sylvia Campos

Sylvia Campos serves as Councilmember representing District 2. See all City Council Members » Sylvia Campos is a native Corpus Christian, raised in Wiggins public housing on the City's Westside. The challenges of her impoverished childhood and being raised in a large family taught her the valuable lessons of listening, compromise, and teamwork. She graduated from Moody High School and attended Del Mar College before becoming a mother of two sons and a grandmother of six grandchildren. Sylvia is proud of her indigenous heritage, and therefore acknowledges that Corpus Christi stands on indigenous land, mainly of the Karankawa, Carrizo, Lipan, Tancahua, Comanche, Coahuiltecan, and several other Native American tribes. For more than forty years, Sylvia has worked in the healthcare industry in administration, billing, and as an insurance specialist with particular emphasis on the financial field dealing with Medicare, Medicaid, and the CHIPS Program. Sylvia served on the Parks and Recreation Board and chaired the effort to plant 12,000 trees in 2012. She worked with the respected AmeriCorps program for the Volunteer Center of the Coastal Bend in city clean-up plans. As an officer with the Corpus Christi League of Women Voters, she registered thousands of voters, and was hired by the Nueces County Sheriff's Organization to successfully help deputies place a collective bargaining measure on the ballot which passed with voter approval. She founded and curated Art for Social Justice as part of biennial forums held at Del Mar College. Sylvia's priorities are to protect the City's greatest natural resources: the people and the environment that fuels the tourist economy. She has dedicated her life to standing up to powerful special interests and pushing back on tax breaks for wealthy corporations. She will advocate for neighborhood improvements; parks, public spaces, and libraries; affordable housing; safe drinking water; and increased access to healthcare.
