Gilbert Ignatius Sheldon was born Sept. 20, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Ignatius P. and Stephanie J. (Olszewski) Sheldon (both deceased). Bishop Sheldon is one of 12 children. Education: He attended St. Philip Neri Elementary, Cleveland, Ohio; Cathedral Latin High School, Cleveland Ohio; John Carroll University, Cleveland Ohio; St. Mary Seminary, Cleveland, Ohio (Master of Divinity); The Ohio Consortium of Seminaries (Doctor of Ministry); Honorary Doctorate: Wheeling Jesuit College, Wheeling, West Virginia, and Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

John King Mussio was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 13, 1902, the son of John and Blanche M. (King) Mussio. He had one brother Thomas J. Mussio. He was baptized and received his first communion in Sacred Heart Church, Cincinnati, and attended Assumption Elementary School and St. Xavier High School, Cincinnati. Education: He attended St. Xavier High School Cincinnati, and was graduated in 1920 from Xavier University, Ohio, receiving a bachelor of arts degree, in 1924. He obtained a master of arts degree from the University of Notre Dame He also studied at the Conservatory of Music and the College of Music, both in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was on the faculty of Xavier University the in department of English from 1925 to 1930, and during that time studied law at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1930, John King Mussio entered the diocesan seminary at St. Gregory's Seminary, Cincinnati, and two years later began his theological studies at Mount St.. Mary's Seminary, Norwood, Ohio.

R. Daniel Conlon was born in Cincinnati Dec. 4, 1948, the son of Robert and Carla (Holzman) Conlon. He is the oldest of six children. He grew up as a member of St. Mary Parish, Hyde Park, Cincinnati. As a high school junior he entered St. Gregory Seminary in Cincinnati, an in 1970 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Athenaeum of Ohio/Saint Gregory Seminary Bishop Conlon has served on many committees and boards within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, including The Catholic Telegraph Board, Board of Mediation, Catholic Committee on Scouting, Futures Committee, Archdiocesan Pastoral Council and Presbyteral Council. He has been active in leadership roles in the St. Mary Deanery. He has also served as an officer and committee member in the Canon Law Society of America. He is a graduate and member of Leadership Cincinnati, a former member of the Cincinnatus Association and a member of the Dan Beard Council President's Council. On July 14, 2011, he was installed as the bishop of the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois.

Bishop Sheldon

Bishop Sheldon was vicar for Marriage and Family Concerns (1976); vicar of Summit County (1978); vicar of the Southern Region (1979) for the Diocese of Cleveland. He was installed the third bishop of Steubenville, April 2, 1992 and retired Aug. 6, 2002. Bishop Sheldon served on the following: Diocesan Presbyteral Council; Pro-synodal Judge (Second Instance Court); Board of trustees for St .Mary Seminary; Diocesan Health Insurance Advisory Board; (formerly:) Board of Trustees, Borromeo College; Academic Board, St. Mary Seminary; Diocesan Consultors; Board of Trustees; Catholic Charities Corporation. Bishop Sheldon, though retired, still remains active; he serves as Judge of the First Instance and Judge of the Second Instance in the diocesan office of Church Law. He was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. Bishop Sheldon was also a 2014 Caritas Honoree. He resides in Steubenville.
