ESCUELA CARACOL

Escuela Caracol is a Waldorf kindergarten and elementary school on the beautiful Lake Atitlán, in the highlands of Guatemala. 70% of our educational community are Mayan families whose tuition, nutrition, facilities and materials are fully funded... 90% of the students at Escuela Caracol and 88% of the faculty are indigenous Kaqchikel and Tz'utujil Mayans from around the lake, and we are a united community dedicated to improving education in the region... Waldorf pedagogy is a living pedagogy in which each culture embodies its diverse cultural forms in teaching and that is what further enriches the accompaniment of each of the children. At Escuela Caracol we accompany our students in a loving and respectful way from the moment they arrive at school until they are handed over to their families, since what the pedagogy seeks is to respond integrally to each one from their different personalities.
