He attended the Agricultural Technical Institution of Ohio State University where he studied Turf Grass Management. Barry's career moved from Ohio to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he worked and resided for fifteen years. He has been a superintendent in North Carolina for fourteen years. Career highlights include a complete golf course grow in on a new construction and the renovation and upgrade of an irrigation system. Brett Fox

Job Titles:
  • Professional Staff Member
  • Assistant Golf Professional
Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Brett attended North Mecklenburg High School and earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as a J.D. from the UNC School of Law. Brett's path to becoming a golf professional was anything but ordinary; growing up, he played baseball, basketball, and football year-round, and only picked up the game of Golf thanks to the Monday playing privileges that accompanied a summer lifeguarding job at River Run Country Club in Davidson. As is the case with many now-devoted golfers, Brett's interest in the game quickly evolved into an obsession. As his passion for the game intensified (and his handicap shrunk), the prospect of a career in golf became more attractive and crucially, more realistic. Brett became an Assistant Golf Professional at Hillandale in December 2022, and he still hasn't gotten over the fact that he gets paid to do this every day. Brett believes strongly that with respect to the golf swing, less is more. He believes that simplicity is the key to results, that the path to success begins with using a student's natural athletic ability to establish sound fundamentals, and that it's important to remember that golf is supposed to be fun!
