In Andy's early career, he advanced quickly through the ranks of major companies in the agriculture industry, starting as a commercial grain merchandiser and moving on to commodity trading. This set the stage for his evolution into the futures trading and brokerage business. After working for a number of years for a major global firm, he struck out on his own and formed Daniels Trading in 1995. Daniels Trading has become one of the country's leading commodities futures and investment firms in the agriculture space. Andy sold controlling interest in the company to GAIN Capital in 2014, and has a continuing leadership role in the firm.
The driving force behind Andy's success has been a passion for early-stage ideas with the potential for impact and profit along with helping others build successful businesses to express that potential. He has been a student of the often crooked and bumpy path of young companies as they attempt to build a business around an innovation and shepherd it to fruition. Over the years, he has invested in dozens of early-stage companies and served on numerous growth-stage company boards. In addition, he has started several innovation companies of his own.
He now channels this passion and his in-the-trenches experience to a select group of high-impact initiatives by serving on their governing boards. And, of course, he continues to be an active angel investor and has an innovation project or two of his own. Andy's core focus is technology innovation, particularly in the agriculture and health sectors, that can address growing food shortage and health issues. His efforts continue around a project started in 2003 in northeastern Brazil to demonstrate that marginal land can be economically repurposed for agricultural production. He recently founded Kronus Innovations, a bio-agricultural company specializing in tailored applications using Ultra-LowRadio Frequency Energy technology to improve efficiencies in plant science, animal health, and biofuels. He serves on the Board of Directors for Pendleton Square Trust Company in Chattanooga, TN, Capitalogix Trading in Coppell, TX, and he serves as a Regional Board Member for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Andy is currently pursuing a fellowship with the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Barry Goldman is the Vice President and Head of Discovery at Indigo. Using novel computational, sequencing and laboratory technologies, he is responsible for identifying the microbes that enable Indigo's first generation of products.
Barry brings more than 20 years of experience in agriculture and life sciences. Most recently, he was the Head of Microbial Discovery at Monsanto, where he was responsible for developing high-throughput pipelines for identifying bacteria that could be mined for genes of interest.
Prior to this, Barry was the Head of Computational Biology at Monsanto where he led the integration of next-generation sequencing data for decision making. He was also responsible for enabling the company to move research data analytics to a cloud-based platform.
Barry holds PhD in Microbiology from the University of Utah. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications as well as 8 patents. Having grown up in the Chicago area, Barry has finally reaped the rewards of being a third generation Cubs fan.

Bill Northcott is the Chief Innovation Officer at Agrible. He works on developing and researching the science and feasibility of new products. Bill is a sixth generation farmer and currently manages a 500 acre corn/soybean operation in East Central Illinois. Bill is an internationally renowned expert in agricultural hydrology and crop water use. Over the last 20 years he has worked on agricultural projects on 6 continents. He has a B.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering and an M.S. in Agronomy / Soil Science, all from the University of Illinois.
His expertise lies in soil hydrology, chemistry and fertility, agricultural meteorology and the impacts of climate change on agricultural production systems, data science and software development. Prior to founding Agricultural Informatics he was a faculty member at Michigan State University where he also served as the state Extension specialist in Irrigation, Drainage and Water Management. Most recently he served as a reviewer to the National Academy of Sciences' 2014 National Climate Assessment Report.

Before joining OTMIR in 2016, Brian Buntaine worked for more than 15 years in the life sciences industry. He began his career as a lab manager at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2003, Brian joined Sigma-Aldrich where he worked as a research and development scientist. After six years, he joined Sigma's New Ventures team and focused on leveraging technology to create opportunities for the company in new markets. When he left the St. Louis-based business, now a subsidiary of German company Merck KGaA, Brian was a senior manager of licensing and business development in genomics, proteomics, food safety and clinical diagnostics.
Brian earned a bachelor's degree in biology and an MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a master's degree in molecular and cellular biology from Washington University.

Carter Williams has spent his entire career working on innovation. First as a young engineer at McDonnell Douglas, next in his leadership roles at Boeing managing R&D and starting Boeing Ventures, and later as a successful entrepreneur and venture investor. Through his career, he has directly managed investments of more than $600 million in early-stage ventures and corporate research, resulting in several billion dollars of new product revenues. As part of Boeing Phantom Works, Carter led Boeing's technology planning process, involving all aspects of internal and external technology development and manufacturing research. This eventually led to his role in founding and managing Boeing Ventures. After Boeing, he was President of Gridlogix, initially a small struggling 4 person startup that grew over 3 years, selling successfully to Johnson Controls in October 2008. Prior to leading iSelect, Carter served as Senior Managing Director at Progress Partners, an energy and technology investment banking firm, and was a Managing Partner at Open Innovation Ventures and a Director at Clayton Capital Partners. Chas Eggert brings over 40 years of experience in the global specialty chemicals and food ingredients industries to iSelect, leveraging his extensive domain expertise as well as his has a proven track record of creating value for startups and large global businesses.
From 2016 to 2019, Chas was an operating partner at Arsenal Capital Partners, a New York City based private equity firm acquiring and building middle-market specialty chemical companies, following time as a managing director and specialty chemical sector leader with the Chicago-based middle-market private equity firm Akoya Capital Partners. Prior to that, he was CEO and a board director of OPX Biotechnologies, a company using biotechnology to produce chemicals from renewable raw materials, which was acquired by Cargill. He began his career with Monsanto, progressing over 20 years and eventually serving as vice president of Monsanto Venture Capital.
Chas is a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has board experience with the American Chemistry Council, the Biotechnology Industry Organization and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado. He was a Founding Director and Chairman of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association. Prior to joining Marcone Craig was a principal at Clayton Capital Partners, an investment banking firm located in St. Louis, Missouri. His practice focused on the enterprise technologies, life sciences and energy industries. Dr. Bob Whitaker joined Produce Marketing Association (PMA) in 2008 as Chief Science & Technology Officer, responsible for food safety, technology, supply chain management and sustainability. Bob has served on the Center for Produce Safety (CPS) Board of Directors and Executive Committee since its founding in 2007 and was the first chair of the CPS technical committee (2008-2013).
Prior to PMA, Bob spent 16 years in the biotechnology field with DNA Plant Technology Corporation (DNAP) as a researcher and finally as Vice President for Fruit and Vegetable Research and Development. After DNAP, Bob worked 10 years at NewStar Fresh Foods and its subsidiary, MissionStar Processing, in food safety, product development and as Vice President of Process Operations.
Actively involved in produce association activities, Bob has served as a volunteer leader for several national and regional industry trade groups including lending his expertise to the development of the leafy greens GAP (good agricultural practices) metrics and serving on the California Leafy Greens Technical Committee during its formative years. Bob has been honored by several groups for technical achievement and leadership including: International Fresh-cut Processors' Association (IFPA) Technical Achievement Award (2006), U.S. Department of Agriculture National Advisory Committee on Microbial Criteria for Foods committee member (2013), NSF Food Safety Leadership (2015), CPS Leadership (2015) and National Academies of Science Genetically Engineered Crops Review panel (2016).

Dr. Brendan A. Niemira is the Research Leader of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's Food Safety and Intervention Technologies Research Unit. He leads a team of 30+ scientists, engineers, technicians, postdocs and students in Wyndmoor, PA in developing tools to kill human pathogens on produce, meats, poultry, shellfish, and other foods. Brendan joined the USDA in 1999 as a research microbiologist. His personal research has focused on the development and validation of cold plasma, high-intensity monochromatic light, irradiation and other nonthermal food safety treatments for fresh and fresh-cut fruits and vegetables.
A member of IFT since 2003, Brendan has presented dozens of research posters and technical presentations at the Annual Meetings and has chaired multiple symposia. As an IFT volunteer, he has served in numerous roles on different committees and panels. He was twice elected chair of the Biotechnology Division and received the Biotech Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2015. He served as AMSPAP, first as Food Microbiology track lead, and then as Chair. In support of IFT events outside the Annual Meeting, he served on the organizing committees for the Nonthermal Processing Division Workshop, the Eastern Food Science Conference, and has presented at IFT-allied meetings in China and South Africa. Brendan has served on the Innovation Award jury, and recently assisted with the IFT comment submission on the USDA-AMS "National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard".
Brendan has published more than 150 peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and critical reviews. He is the co-editor and author of a well-regarded reference text and holds one patent. He is the recipient of the 2016 Department of Defense Award for Excellence. Brendan holds an A.B. in Biology from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Michigan State University. He serves on the editorial boards for "Applied and Environmental Microbiology" and "Journal of Food Protection".
Dr. Bruce German is a Professor and Chemist of Food Science and Technology at the University of California, Davis and researches the role of fats and other components in the diet. He develops ways to assess health and metabolism in response to foods. Milk is the model he uses as a genetic blueprint for foods to support health. Milk evolves for the purpose of nourishing growing mammals and this evolutionary logic is the basis of the research to discover physical, functional, and nutritional properties of milk components and to apply these properties as principles to foods. Dr. German has also published many articles, including topics on Food in an Evolutionary Context and Nutrigenomics and Personalized Diets: What Will They Mean for Food?. He has received honors as a Dean's Distinguished Lecturer, Distinguished Professor, and Most Highly Cited Scientist award by ISI Index.
As a clinical leader, physician, cardiac expert and social entrepreneur, Dr. Joan LaRovere has spent the last 15 years sustaining two careers. As a clinical leader, she has been at the forefront of building best-in-class cardiac programs in leadership roles at two of the top hospitals in the world, London's Royal Brompton Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. She is also the co-founder of Virtue Foundation, an international NGO dedicated to tackling issues around healthcare, education and justice reform in places with the greatest need. Its work has included projects in post-Katrina Louisiana, Ghana, Mongolia, El Salvador and elsewhere.

Eric is the Chief Executive at Pipeline Foods. Eric started his career at The Pillsbury Company where he received his classic commodity merchandising training and became the Manager of Market Development for their Speciality Commodities Group. In 1988, he became Vice President of Commodity Operations at publicly-traded International Proteins Corporation (IPC). IPC was delisted when the executive team determined that the portfolio of operations was more valuable as independent companies then was being realized as a single entity. Along with the former Chairman of IPC, Eric purchased the trading book, physical assets and the IPC name and recapitalized the business as a privately held entity in 1990. In 1998, Eric architected the sale of IPC to the Scoular Company where he joined their BoD and formed their Industrial Markets Division where he was General Manager. In 2007, Eric formed a new venture under the Chicago Climate Exchange to develop carbon sequestration programs for farmers and landowners. This led to the formation of Conservis Corp. in 2009 to develop a management software platform for large-scale farming enterprises. Eric left Conservis at the end of 2016 to lead Pipeline Foods. Eric is a native of Urbana, IL where he received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois before moving to his new home state of Minnesota. He has continued to serve his alma mater in a variety of roles throughout his professional career.
Eva is a digital marketing specialist and web developer who is the founder and principal of Human Design, Marketing, and Technology. She manages iSelect's website presence, marketing strategy, and implementation of technology tools across platforms to support a diverse range of stakeholders. In addition to iSelect, she has worked with the Parents As Teachers National Center, YP, Anheuser Busch, BioMedical Systems, United Nations, Pacific Gas & Electric, Mercedes Benz, Enterprise Holdings, Center for Disease Control, RR Donnelly, Barnes Jewish Hospital, Cardinal Glennon Hospital, and many startups, small businesses, and non-profits. For more than a decade, Jay was CEO of St. Louis-based software consultancy, Harpoon Technologies, specializing in open source and e-commerce solutions. Earlier in his career he also spent time in software and IT architecture roles at Charter Communications, Boeing and others.

Tim is Vice President of G.M. Lawerence and Company, with a demonstrated history of working in the farming industry. He is skilled in management, agricultural production, precision agriculture, agribusiness, and strategic planning. Tim graduated with a Master of Arts from Harding University.
Todd is a recognized expert in functional genomics, bioinformatics, and plant systems biology, and is focused on accelerating discovery and development by more accurately predicting plant performance. He has built capabilities and toolsets that manipulate gene regulation and enable the study of cascades of ‘omics data in a synthesized manner, and uses a range of environmental conditions to improve predictive outputs. Todd joined the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in 2011, where he maintains his role as a faculty member. His lab uses several C3 and C4 plants and model grass systems in its functional and comparative genomics studies. To improve existing predictive modeling capabilities, Todd is leading an effort to define, characterize and perturb key transcriptional regulatory networks directly relevant to plant responses to stresses and performance (yield, growth). He is also involved in the establishment of a high-throughput digital phenotyping platform to empower trait discovery in monocots. Todd maintains an Adjunct faculty role in the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis and an Adjunct Faculty position at the Division of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri. Prior to joining the Danforth Center, he was an Associate Professor at Oregon State University and a member of the Center for Genome Research and Biocomputing and the Computational and Genome Biology Initiative, as well as the Molecular and Cellular Biology Program. Todd was a postdoctoral associate at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California after earning his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of California - Los Angeles and his B.A. in Molecular Biology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
