MONTEBELLO CHAMBER

The Montebello Chamber Of Commerce had its beginnings in 1912 when a group of 26 civic-minded and professional men signed a petition of incorporation. Jacob Hanna, notary public, subscribed the petition for Los Angeles County on October 28, 1912.The purpose of the incorporation was to "foster and encourage commerce; to stimulate home manufacturers, to assist in securing a market for our products, to induce immigration, and the subdivision, settlement and cultivation of our lands; to assist in the development of material resources of the region and generally to promote the business interests of Montebello, California." They were C.L. Edmundson, George W. Scoff, J.W. Van Orsdel, Bert E. Coffman, W.L. Mulford, J.S. Moore, E.A. Martin, W.F. Berry and C.J. Hinman. The incorporation was to last for fifty years and was approved by the Secretary of State on December 18, 1912. The official seal contained a red poinsettia in the center...
