I've been a member of Saint Joseph parish since 2011, when I began serving at the Sunday evening Mass in music ministry. I've also had the pleasure and privilege in helping with youth ministry throughout the years. It's such a gift to sing with the community, and it's been a huge blessing to my family. Hello! My name is Ian Salzman and I serve as the Pastoral Assistant for Social Concerns Ministry at St. Joseph's. I joined the parish and started this position in October 2021 after moving here from Omaha, Nebraska. Before moving here, I served for eight months with AmeriCorps and for a year with Jesuit Volunteer Corps. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Catholic Social Tradition. Since joining St. Joseph's, I've been inspired by the generosity, kindness, and passion of parishioners, especially in their concern for those at the margins. Hello! My name is Michelle Gronewold and I am the Pastoral Assistant for Youth Ministry here at St. Joseph's. My family moved to Washington from Iowa in the summer of 2019 and have been members at St. Joseph's Church since the beginning of this year. I have three adult children--Elizabeth (22), Madeline (21), and William (19), who are all attending school in Iowa and two high schoolers still at home--Alice (17) and John (15), who attend Hockinson High School. I love spending time with my kids, knitting, hiking, playing pickleball, and going to concerts. I've worked both as a youth minister and a faith formation director in my years in ministry and am currently finishing a Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry from St. John's School of Theology in Collegeville, MN. I am excited to be serving in ministry again and so happy to be a part of this great parish!
