Alfred I. Okoigun - CEO, Founder

Alfred I. Okoigun is the Founder/Group Managing Director of ARCO Group Plc. He attended Holy Trinity Catholic School, Ewu and Government College, Ughelli. Thereafter, Alfred read Mechanical Engineering at the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun as well as Senior Management Programme (SMP) at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland amongst several other courses and programs. After a one-year industrial training with Snap Progetti of ENI in Italy in 1978, Mr. Okoigun joined the NNPC as a Material Management Officer in the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company (WRPC); he served in that capacity from 1978 to 1980. A visionary entrepreneur, Mr. Okoigun resigned his appointment in 1980 and established ARCO Petrochemical Engineering Company Limited, to provide maintenance engineering and consultancy services to the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry. He was granted agency representation by Nuovo Pignone - a 100% owned subsidiary of the ENI Group (now owned by General Electric) when he was only 25. Mr. Okoigun is a strong believer in the development of engineering services in Nigeria. Through ARCO, he has sponsored over 40 engineers, technocrats and energy correspondents for training programs and facility visits to Oil and Gas equipment manufacturing firms and to exhibitions and seminars on energy matters in Italy, Switzerland, USA, Brazil and Argentina. In recognition of his contributions to the Nigerian Oil & Gas sector, Alfred has been honoured by his professional colleagues and his alma mater; among these awards are the conferment of a Fellowship on him by the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun at the age of 43, designation as a role model by the Engineering Society, University of Lagos and the conferment of Fellowship on him by the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers. Under his able leadership, ARCO Petrochemical Engineering Company Plc. has made way for a new company, ARCO Group Plc. The old company is now known as ARCO Maintenance and Engineering Ltd, AMEL which is one of the three thriving subsidiaries of ARCO Group Plc. Mr. Okoigun is the Group Managing Director of ARCO Group Plc. and he propagates the vision that he wants the company to outlive its founder and take its place among successful corporations in the world. He is a philanthropist of the rare type who continues to invest in human capital development, endowments and community related projects and notably, in Government College Ughelli's rehabilitation and renovation projects being sponsored by the Old Boys Association of the College.

Engr. Godwin Omene is a Director of ARCO Group Plc. He holds a First Class Honours B.Sc Degree (Mining Engineering) from Imperial College of Science and Technology London and a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering) with Distinction from the same College. Engr. Omene served in the following capacities in Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria: Wellsite Petroleum Engineer, Shell BP Port-Harcourt; Wellsite Petroleum Engineering Trainer, Western Division, Delta State; Operations Engineer Western Division, Warri; Senior Operations Engineer, Western Division, Warri; Production Technologist, Eastern Division; Port Harcourt, Senior Production Technologist, Lagos; Head Petroleum Engineering department, Eastern Division, Port Harcourt; Lagos Operations and Third party Affairs Manager and LNG Coordinator, Lagos State; Operations Manager, Western Division, Warri; Divisional Manager, Western Division, Warri; General Manager, Operations, Lagos; Deputy Managing Director and General Manager, Lagos. Subsequent to his retirement from Shell Nigeria, Engr. Omene was appointed the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Federal Government intervention Agency in the Niger Delta. Engr Omene is currently the Chairman/CEO of Gladson Petrogas Limited, an energy consulting company he founded after retirement. He is a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Productivity (NNOP) and a member of various professional bodies with wide training and other appointments too numerous to mention.

Engr. Greg Ero

Engr. Greg Ero is a Director of ARCO Group Plc. He was educated at the University of Ibadan; Imperial College, London and Oxford University, obtaining degrees in Chemistry, Engineering and Management Science. In addition, he had academic stints at Columbia University Graduate School of Business, New York and at the Institute of Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Engr. Ero served the Federal Government in many capacities for over 30 years in the petroleum industry and held many important positions between 1974 and 1999 including CEO/Group General manager of NAPIMS, an arm of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC); Managing Director of National Engineering & Technical Company (NETCO) - JV between NNPC/Bechtel of USA: Managing Director of Integrated Data Services Ltd (IDSL), a subsidiary of NNPC; General Manager, Commercial, Nigeria LNG; Head of Central Purchasing and supply Dept. of NNPC and Head, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Warri. He also held many Board appointments in Federal Government parastatals. Engr. Ero is a Fellow of many professional bodies and has presented many papers in both national and international seminars. He has received several national and international awards in recognition of his distinguished service to the nation, the oil and gas industry as well as the larger society. Engr. Ero is currently the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Arkleen Oil & Gas Limited and a Director of several national and international companies.

Engr. Ion Savu

Engr. Ion Savu is the Technical Operations Manager and Applications Support of ARCO Group Plc. He joined ARCO Group in 2011. He has 26 years experience in Petrochemical and Oil & Gas Industry managing various projects for General Electric, Mannesmann-Demag, Technip GmHH. He has worked in several plants from Oil & Gas industry, Energy, Ammonia & Fertilizer Plants. He supported with the Construction & Repair of Petrochemical Equipment (Reformers, Heat Ex-changers, Tankers, Chemical Reactors etc), Process Automatization and Control (DCS), Revamping / Up-Rating Ammonia and Urea Plant, Maintenance projects (BOP Balance of Plant, Rotating Equipment Gas & Steam Turbines, Compressors, Reciprocating Compressors, Turbo-Generators.

Engr. Jan A. Baan - Managing Director

Engr. Jan Baan is the Managing Director of ARCO Maintenance and Engineering Limited (AMEL). He holds B.Sc degree in Marine Engineering and M.Sc degree in International Management. Engr. Baan started his career as a marine engineer and progressively occupied all ranks from an apprentice engineer up to his role as chief engineer. During his 14 years as marine engineer sailing globally he has been responsible for all the technical equipment and associated support systems installed on various ships. Over the course of 10 years he worked for Rolls-Royce and Siemens as field service representative on rotating- and reciprocating equipment in many locations worldwide. He has had extensive exposure ranging from hands-on maintenance and repairs, to installation and commissioning. As an integrated commissioning team member frequently he has advanced starting up complex facilities onshore as well as offshore. Since 2005, Engr. Baan has been working for Siemens Nigeria with responsibility covering customer service, operations and sales. In 2009, he was elevated to the position of General Manager responsible for service in the oil & gas and industrial applications. In his role as General Manager, he was instrumental to the formation of the alliance between Siemens and ARCO. Engr. Baan joined ARCO January 2014 and in his strategic role he is committed to engage his competences effectively to contribute in the development of Nigerian Content Capability.

Julie Okoigun is a Director of ARCO Group Plc. She attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria where she obtained a B.A. degree in Sociology in 1984. She is a founding Director who has played an active role at the board level in general policy formulation, decision making and direction of the company. Her brief but eventful work experience at Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) had prepared her for that role. A constant face adorning several corporate social responsibility projects of the company, Mrs. Okoigun successfully led the planning and execution of the ARCO NEST AWARDS project in London in the year 2001 as part of events marking the 20 th Anniversary of ARCO. The awards, which drew the attention of the local and international communities, brought into limelight, selected Nigerians that had excelled in their chosen fields of human endeavour. Visionary, resourceful and a source of inspiration, Mrs. Okoigun remains a sprightly director that always sees the bigger picture.Her insights will continue to invigorate discussions in the ARCO Boardroom.

Mr. Joseph Odu - COO

Mr. Joseph Odu is the Chief Operating Officer of ARCO Integrity Solutions Limited. Before now, Mr. Joseph Odu was the Chief Operating Officer of ARCO Marine & Oilfield Services Limited. He was previously the Head, Technical Services. Mr. Odu read Mechanical Engineering at the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma (now Ambrose Alli University) and obtained a B.Sc degree in 1991. He has also had extensive training in marine engineering and power generation and operation. Mr Odu commenced his rich industry experience in the maintenance and servicing of equipment in the Marine sector with Sea Trucks Company as Marine Supervisor and as Senior Technician in ARCO Petrochemical Engineering Company Limited before his redeployment to ARCO Marine in 2001.

Olatokunbo Carew

Olatokunbo Carew is a Director of ARCO Group Plc. He is an Engineer and seasoned administrator of resources. In 1983, he obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife. In furtherance of his studies, he obtained an MBA degree in 1987 from the University of Lagos, Akoka, with a bias for production management & operations research. Prior to joining ARCO in 1989, Mr. Carew held several senior executive positions in the public service, manufacturing and the Japanese International trading firm, Sumitomo Corporation. He has brought to bear on the strategic formulation framework of ARCO, his wealth of experiences gained from technical Operations, Business Development and Commercial Portfolios, combined with his ability to analyse complex issues and recommend viable courses of action. He has been a principal player (from conception, through tender to execution) on several large ticket projects which form the core experience profile of ARCO, making him one of the props that have kept the ARCO flag flying in the years past, despite the vagaries of the business environment. He has participated in several professional and executive training and development programmes in Nigeria and abroad, including the Senior Management Programme (SMP) at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland. Mr. Carew has in-depth knowledge of local & global developments in the oil and gas industries. He retired from ARCO in 2009 but has retained his seat on the Board. Mr. Carew is a member of several professional bodies including the "Nigerian Gas Association", "American Institute of Electronic & Electrical Engineers" and the "Nigerian Institute of Management".
