- Writer for the New Yorker
Malcolm Gladwell, writer for The New Yorker and well known international author of Blink and The Tipping Point, Gladwell says " it isn't just our smart smarts, ambition, hustle and talent - It is, above all, practice - and not just any practice, a critical number of hours of focused practice - 10,000."
In his book, Outliers: The Story of Success, Gladwell reveals his findings that 10,000 hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expert-in anything.
(He goes on to give examples such as the Beatles playing live 1,200 times between 1960-1964 times and Bill Gates having well over 10, 000 hours of programming before heading off to college.)
