AMES - Key Persons

Heather Schaefer

Heather's background in child and family services has given her a passion for educating and encouraging patients in their dental health. She has served in all aspects of our dental practice but currently plays a vital role working alongside Dr. Amie as her dental assistant. Heather finds satisfaction in attention to details, and loves being able to offer you greater comfort with a paraffin hand dip, a warm blanket, or a neck pillow. She wants you to enjoy your visit so you can look forward to coming again! Heather enjoys attending ISU events, baking, music, and family.

Kari Bemisdarfer

Kari joined Dr. Amie's team initially as a dental assistant in 2009 and, as her passion for oral health grew, she went back to school to be a dental hygienist and graduated from DMACC in 2012. In 2020, Kari's interest in helping people bloomed even bigger, and she pursued and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene in 2022 from Minnesota State University. Currently, she is working on her Master's degree at the University of New Mexico. When she is not at the office taking care of her patients, she is working at DMACC teaching future dental hygienists how to care for patients. Kari has a husband and two daughters and spends her weekends at the basketball courts watching her oldest pursue her passion. When you see Kari in the office, you're sure to get a big smile and feel completely at ease while in her care!

Morgan Anderson

Morgan is a recent graduate from Iowa State with a Bachelor of Science in software engineering and psychology. Prior to pursuing software and psychology, she had an interest in dentistry, which was amplified by Dr. Amie's work on her smile back in 2010, instilling confidence and helping her love her smile again. She wants our ACCFD family to feel confident and love their smiles, too! Now Morgan is exploring the dental avenue she's been wanting to look into since she was younger, where she is currently undergoing dental assistant training and helping out around the front desk as a treatment coordinator. When Morgan is not at the office, she loves spending time with her friends, whether that involves going for walks around town or the countryside, cooking up new recipes, or playing board or video games.

Renee Rockow

After retirement from the Ames Community School District, it seemed very natural for Renee to join our team. She enjoys working to promote fine service and loves fostering close relationships with our patients. Her background as an administrator gives her the patience to support and encourage you as you learn about your dental needs and care options. She is always eager to advocate on the behalf of our patients and find ways to help them with their insurance, which can be a challenging system to navigate. She enjoys helping out wherever she's needed, whether it be assisting with treatment, office administration, marketing, education, or reception. She is invested in your care and satisfaction. Renee loves being with family, travel, music, reading, and all things ISU.
