Brett Gilbert

Brett Gilbert undertook his studies at Sydney University where he obtained a Bachelor Economics and a Bachelor of Laws, graduating in 1990. He commenced legal practice with Garland Hawthorn Brahe in Sydney in 1991 where he worked in the litigation department until moving to Port Macquarie in 1993. Brett joined the litigation team at Stacks - The Law Firm in Port Macquarie and in 1997 became a partner and from 1999 until 2006 was managing partner/director, managing a staff of over 30 and running one of the largest litigation practices in regional NSW. He has acted for parties in all jurisdictions including the High Court of Australia. Brett also has experience as an advocate and has run trials lasting up to 1 week. Brett has advised small and large regional businesses on business structuring, finance and insurance. Brett has extensive experience in property development including multi - unit residential developments, land sub-divisions and commercial developments. Outside the law, Brett's community involvement includes being a Trustee of the Hastings Cancer Trust and a stint as secretary for the Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association. His interests include rugby union and Brett has been involved with the Port Macquarie Pirates as a player, coach, administrator and sponsor for the last 23 years.
