Lorimer Public Affairs works in association with David Humphreys, President of HPAG Humphreys Public Affairs Group. Mr. Humphreys has more than 30 years experience in Ottawa as an editor and consultant. Before establishing HPAG Mr. Humphreys served as managing editor of The Ottawa Journal, bureau chief of The Globe and Mail and executive assistant to the minister of Indian and Northern Affairs. At HPAG, he has worked with numerous national associations in a variety of sectors. Beginning in the eighties, his work with the Canadian Real Estate Association allowed CREA to establish the largest and most effective political action network in Canada. Mr. Humphreys is past president of the Michener Awards Foundation which supports meritorious public service journalism in Canada.

James Lorimer

James Lorimer has over 30 years of experience in Ottawa's government and media relations industry. Working in one of Ottawa's longest-operating public affairs firm for most of those years, he established himself as a discreet, responsible and effective public affairs consultant. In 2010, he established Lorimer Public Affairs, continuing to serve numerous long-standing clients. James has served as the Ottawa-based government relations representative for one of Canada's Big Five banks for 30 years, working with senior management on numerous files that affect the financial services industry. James has also provided government relations services to companies and national organizations representing a wide range of industries - agriculture, housing, health care, cosmetics, and broadcasting, to name a few. He has provided strategic counsel and logistical support for some of the most effective and lasting grass-roots advocacy programs - in the market housing and direct sales industries. He has also provided strategic communications and media relations services to numerous public and private sector organizations, including House of Commons and Senate Committees. James has long-established and trusted relationships with many members of the Parliamentary Press Gallery and Ottawa media. James has been actively involved with the Parliamentary Internship Programme, chairing numerous fundraising and management committees for over a dozen years. James is also a Director of the New Federation House, an independent, non-profit corporation dedicated to public education on social, political and economic issues. Its successful publications include the Prime Ministers of Canada and Native Leaders of Canada. He was most recently involved in the production of a volume on the Governors of the Bank of Canada. In 2008, The Hill Times began publishing an annual list of the country's Top 100 lobbyists - James has appeared on the list several times. James holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration and B.A. (Hon) in Political Science - both from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
