At Talcott Mountain Academy, children reach for the stars! With a hands-on approach to learning, children learn by doing - immersed in a fully-integrated curriculum where language arts is integrated and balanced with science, mathematics is related to art, and music combines with technology to synthesize new sounds for young ears... We also promote staff and student engagement in scientific and educational research to find solutions to problems in an increasingly complex and technological world... In 1967, the Talcott Mountain Science Center was established to further the understanding of science in the lives of students, teachers, and adults. In 1983, the Academy opened its doors as a division of the Science Center, paving the way for a new model of education - hands-on, inquiry-based STEM education where professional scientists bring their expertise into the classroom to teach students.
