Amanda Leigh is YCGA's Administrative Assistant. Being at YCGA for over 5 years and working alongside the Leadership and C&T teams, Amanda brings extensive experience for expenses and scheduling. Ant completed his Ph.D. in plant genomics from National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI), India. His Ph.D. research was on identifying genome-wide molecular signatures in Arabidopsis ecotypes adapted to high-altitude regions. He then moved to Kansas State University as a Postdoc and worked on the evolution of multicellularity in Volvocales using comparative genomics approaches. Before joining YCGA, he was working as a Genomics Scientist at the University of North Dakota. As a Bioinformatics scient at YCGA bioinformatics group, Ant is an expert in various bioinformatics analysis workflows such as transcriptomics, single cell seq, methylSeq, HiC, and whole exome seq. In addition to YCGA bioinformatics, Ant also works with Yale DNA diagnostics lab, where he works on their Bioinformatics pipeline maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.

Ashish Shelar is an experienced computational biologist currently specializing in data analysis of cutting-edge spatial genomic and proteomic technology platforms. Ashish earned his Master's degree in Bioinformatics from Savitribai Phule Pune University and his Ph.D in Computational Biology from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. His doctoral research involved data mining and curating one of the early datasets of membrane protein structures and sequences to uncover thumb rules governing their in-vitro folding. He then began his post-doctoral work at Yale University to experimentally create genetic screens to design and identify novel transmembrane proteins that specifically activate receptors. As a separate project, Ashish then used confocal imaging to understand receptor-neurotransmitter interactions in C.elegans and computationally compared it with single cell RNA seq data. As an Associate Research Scientist working for YCGA since February 2022, Ashish works with multiple investigators at Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital to analyze data and provide insights from spatial technologies such as Xenium, CosMx, MERFISH and Imaging Mass Cytometry and CyToF.

As a director of operations at YCGA, Bony De Kumar has over 20 years of experience in genomics, epigenetics, and Bioinformatics. After Postdoctoral Research, he served as a genomics Scientist at Jackson Lab, Bar Harbor, and as director of genomics core at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. He has successfully established long-read technologies (Nanopore and PacBio) at the Bar Harbor campus to cater to genotyping needs. At the University of North Dakota (UND), As a core director at UND, he has initiated single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing at UND alongside the expansion of new short-read-based library preparation. His group offers DNA and RNA library preparation, spatial transcriptomics, and sequencing services to Yale and Non-yale users of YCGA. Research interests included the development of technology for liquid biopsies, newborn screening, and epigenetics.

Brooke Carlson works as a Research Assistant 2 at YCGA in the RNAseq group. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in May 2019 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Biochemistry. She joined the lab in July of 2019.
Bryan Szewczyk has both a B.S. and a M. A. in Biomolecular Sciences from Central Connecticut State University. Since then, he has served as a Research Assistant (2019-2022) and then Research Associate (2022-current) at the Yale Center from Genome Analysis (YCGA). During his time at the YCGA, Bryan has gained proficiency with whole exome, ChIP, PCR amplicon, and whole genome library preparation.

Dejian Zhao is a Bioinformatics Scientist at YCGA and an Associate Research Scientist at Department of Genetics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in ecological genomics from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. Then he worked in BGI Shenzhen for two years and in Novogene for around one year. After that, he started his postdoc research in neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In 2018, he joined YCGA. Since then, he has provided various bioinformatics service, including consultation, experimental design, and data analysis, to Yale researchers. He is experienced with microarray, next generation sequencing, PacBio sequencing, and 10X single-cell data analysis.

Francesc Lopez-Giraldez obtained his PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2006 and came to Yale for his postdoctoral training. He joined YCGA in 2012 as Associate Director of Bioinformatics. He has over 18 years of bioinformatics experience in a variety of large-scale NGS analyses. He is an author in more than 85 publications on Genomics and Bioinformatics in high-impact journals such as Nature Genetics, Science, Cell Stem Cell, American Journal of Human Genetics. Ho-Joon Lee is an Associate Research Scientist in Genetics with expertise in data science, machine learning, and systems biology. He obtained a PhD in bioinformatics from the Free University of Berlin and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Germany and Master's degrees in theoretical physics and applied mathematics from Cambridge University and Swansea University in the United Kingdom. His postdoctoral training was in systems biology at Harvard Medical School. Before joining Yale, he was a research faculty in physiology at the University of Michigan Medical School working on cancer metabolomics. As director of YCGA's Bioinformatics Core, James Knight has over 33 years of experience in bioinformatics and computational biology. After his Ph.D. and post-doctoral work, he served a lead bioinformatician at the genomics companies CuraGen Corporation and 454 Life Sciences. At 454 Life Sciences, the first company to commercialize next-generation sequencing (NGS), he was the lead author of the Newbler assembler and a lead in the development of 454's bioinformatics software. Joining Yale in 2014, he and his group provide NGS analysis services across the Yale community, covering all sequencing technologies and analysis applications.

Dr. Mane brings expertise for genomic and proteomic analyses using both microarray and high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies. He received his Ph.D. in Cancer Biology in 1985 and did his Postdoc at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the Director of the Yale Center for Genome Analysis (YCGA) Shared Resource and the Director of The Keck Biotechnology Resource Laboratory at Yale. He has published more than 125 articles, holds 2 patents, and has amassed over 25 years of research experience in both academic and private industry. He has attracted significant funding from NIH and other sources to maintain cutting edge genomic technologies at Yale. Currently, Dr. Mane is one of four PIs of the Yale Center for Mendelian Genomics established in 2012 through an $11.2 million-dollar grant from NHGRI. Besides directing the YCGA, he pursues research in the field of neuroscience. Dr. Mane has a demonstrated record of establishing a successful and productive genomic facility that has provided over 58,000 sequence analyses (library prep, sequencing and analyses) to 225 Yale and 124 non-Yale principal investigators from 72 national and 16 international institutions.
