7 LAYER SOLUTIONS LIMITED - Key Persons

John Winchcombe

Job Titles:
  • Currency Performance Consultant - Part Time
John has been a member of the 7 Layer team since February 2018. A self declared non-techy, John knows a lot about Central Banks, the cash cycle, banknotes and the banknote industry. Having been with us for while now, however, he can hold his own about data lakes, Hadoop clusters, spikes, scrums and stories with tremendous confidence and great aplomb. He served 27 years at De La Rue Currency, ending as the Product Manager and Marketing Director, and nearly 2 years with CCL Secure as Head of Sales Operations. When not at 7 Layer, he is Chair of the Future of Cash Conference and does some industry consulting for Reconnaissance International. In 2018 John sailed across the Pacific with the Clipper Round the World yacht race. He is now busy planning what next so that he isn't just seen as a sailor washed up on the shores of Cheltenham.

Lee Maisner - Managing Director

Job Titles:
  • Managing Director
After spending a veritable eternity of close to twenty years consulting in both the software and cash logistics industries, which has led to an impressive legacy of both experience and knowledge in global cash cycles, Lee is ideally placed to captain the helm of the 7 Layer ship. He is highly competitive, thrives on stress and consumes copious amounts of very strong caffeine. With an unusually low level of interest in technology combined with a penchant for hats and the colour pink, he is not your typical managing director. He is renowned for being a stickler when it comes to grammar and spelling which lends itself beautifully to his role in quality control. Above all, Lee has the memory of an elephant, retaining a plethora of information and multiplicity of facts that is just not normal.

Phillip Ball

Job Titles:
  • Development Director
A 2002 recruit to the 7 Layer team, Phil is an example of the long term careers many hold at the company. He has certainly gained inordinate industry experience, rightfully earning the privilege of co-steering the helm in his role as Lee's second in command. His development and software expertise are exacting and meticulous. Ideally placed to navigate our strange crew, he very capably manages the largest team of developers we have ever had. A self-confessed food and wine buff, he has always expressed the desire to be a chef had he not carved out his career in software. Phil thrives on all things expressive, is very much about inclusion and loves energy laced with optimism. Our socially interactive working environment feeds this passion and Phil is more than happy to be in control of the slush fund. Well versed in our extensive and thorough recruitment practise, he champions the corporate well-being and continual development of our staff.

Tracy Kennish-Ward

Job Titles:
  • Head of Marketing and Business Development
A previous director for a hardware supplier in our incestuous industry, Tracy found the transition to cash logistics software relatively smooth. She is an enthusiastic ‘people' person, a keen communicator and loves her job, facts that manifest themselves every day in her playful attitude/nature. A strong advocate of the great working environment, Tracy often spearheads projects that maintain and enhance this balance. Her favourite tipple is Veuve Clicquot as she enjoys some of the finer things in life and if you were to deprive / starve her of cerebral stimulation, she would most definitely go insane. Like Phil, her communication style is expressive which certainly lends itself to her creativity, the company and her role. She describes herself as probably the most honest marketeer you will ever meet and a bit of a thrill seeking adrenalin junkie.
