Mark has an in-depth knowledge of technical and design aspects of architecture, and he expertly supports the practice with his knowledge of current building regulations issues and all technical aspects of construction. He has helped deliver a wide range of small and detailed as well as large and complex projects through all project phases. Outside of architecture, Mark enjoys spending time with this family in the outdoors especially yachting in Nelson Harbour.
Nicole came to us as a graduate after completing her architectural degree at Ara and we have enjoyed watching her confidently conquer increasingly challenging projects. She is very motivated to grow as a designer and develop her technical skills and she excels at both architectural design work and Council communications. Nicole is a very creative person and outside of architecture, she undertakes ambitious sewing projects and dog training.
Pip keeps the office running smoothly and her responsibilities span the business, administrative, HR, finance and IT needs of the practice, providing support to the entire team. When not in the office she loves spending time in the outdoors with her daughters, tramping and swimming.

As founder and director of Karsten Architecture Ltd, Tony Karsten is a designer with a unique understanding of both the design and build processes. He spent several formative years in the building industry before training in architecture and this experience gives him a strong practical understanding of construction. Tony enjoys getting to know new clients and his inclusive approach has fostered many long-standing relationships with clients, builders and consultants and results in enjoyable and successful projects. Out of the office he enjoys gardening, cycling and spending time with his family.
