Bill Robinson

Job Titles:
  • Staff Member
Bill Robinson trained as a motor mechanic with a large dealership in Newcastle, and carried on with the trade when he joined REME (the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in the Army). After the army he worked for several more dealerships (including Ford, Vauxhall and British Leyland) before starting out on his own. He owned several garages and finally moved to Leyden Car Centre in 1982. Bill has done it all, from servicing to repairs, from paintwork to complete engine rebuilds and gearbox overhauls. There is not a car built on this earth that Bill can't repair!

Garry Robinson

Job Titles:
  • Staff Member
Garry Robinson is the eldest son and has been in the trade for over 30 years. He got hooked by the car bug when he was just a child, helping his dad work on the NSU Ro80's he used to collect and restore. When he was just 8 years old Garry could be seen in the workshop of Cuttys Lane garage learning the trade at an early age. Garry attends numerous engine diagnostic training courses each year to keep on top of developments with the latest makes and models.

Paula Phipps

Paula Phipps has also worked with Bill for many years. As the Office Manager she ensures the administritive side of the business runs smoothly. Having worked in the business for so long Paula can often diagnose issues on the phone, and could probably have a good go at changing a set of spark plugs if required! She is also a professional breeder of Minature Schnauzer puppies.
