Perelandra Wines specializes in bringing vintages from California's Central Coast to the Russian market... The inspiration for Perelandra Wines struck in 2007 when Aaron Cantrell, while researching a topic that would become his Stanford University master's thesis, embarked on a trip to Russia. A longtime admirer of Russian literature and culture, Cantrell was overjoyed at the opportunity to explore the homeland of Chekhov, Tolstoy, and Dostoyevsky. Only one thing bothered him on his tour of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Golden Ring-and that was the dearth of good wines, both imported and domestic. Having grown accustomed to the inexpensive yet high-quality vintages of his native Paso Robles, Cantrell began to dream of bringing a wine to the Russian market that could match the loveliness of the country's landscape, people, and culture.
