April was drawn to the building supply industry and HubCraft by her creative and innovative nature. April realized her love of DIY projects and home renovations was pointing her toward a career in building materials! April loves to organize and takes great pride in her work, all with a smile on her face. From a young age, April has been an athlete at heart, enjoying hiking, fishing, baseball, and volleyball. April spends a lot of her time with her family and you can often find her in a gym, alongside her husband Chris, watching their daughter Haley playing highly competitive volleyball.
Fun Fact: April is also the mom of two fur babies - Brooke and Lucy!
Brandon is yard foreman of our crew and takes standard deliveries as well as boom truck deliveries. Brandon is known for his great work ethic and knowledge - especially when it comes to fixing or maintaining vehicles. He can typically be found keeping the yard organized, arranging deliveries, or helping out customers. Brandon enjoys being at home cooking up something tasty on the BBQ or relaxing and spending time with his family. Brandon is slightly outnumbered in his household, with his two adorable daughters.
Chris was born and raised in the lovely valley of Upper Stewiacke. He has been working in retail for over a decade and his attentiveness and friendliness certainly radiate through his customer service. There's never an idle moment with Chris- you can find him attending to customers, stocking shelves, answering the phones, or keeping the store looking sharp by merchandising or organizing. Chris has a quick wit and enjoys conversing and building relationships with customers. At home, Chris can be found enjoying time with his family - including his two young sons. An athlete at heart, Chris plays hockey, soccer, baseball, and can be often seen at the rink coaching his sons' team or outside enjoying the great outdoors.
Fun Fact: Chris is an avid Leafs fan!
Daniel has been working at HubCraft in the yard for a few years and is currently a part-time employee while he attends school to become a Medical Lab Technologist. When engaging in conversation, it doesn't take long to realize that Daniel is friendly and methodical with an upbeat attitude and a solid work ethic. Attentive and courteous, you will always find Daniel with a smile on his face. Aside from attending to customers in the yard, Daniel also takes our standard and cube van deliveries. When at home, Daniel can often be found tinkering away at woodworking projects or relaxing with his family and Sheltie, Indy.
Fun Fact: Daniel has a sweet tooth and is often bringing cookies or chocolate in to share with his coworkers (and we don't mind at all…).

- Second Generation Member of the Roode Family to Work at HubCraft
Dave is a second generation member of the Roode family to work at HubCraft, following in his father, the founder, Carl's footsteps. He graduated from Saint Mary's University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is approaching 50 years of full-time service. Dave married the love of his life, JoAnne, in 1983 and together they have raised two wonderful children, Marissa and Matthew, who have followed Dad into the family business. Dave also has a passion for sports with his beloved teams, the Chicago Blackhawks, Cleveland Indians, and Philadelphia Phillies at the top of his list. He still holds out the hope that his Cleveland Browns are finally on their way to building that Super Bowl team he longs for. Four furry family members (Golden Retrievers) Kane, Toews, Magnuson and Teravainen also have a special place in Dave's heart.
Jim has worked for HubCraft for over 30 years. He very much enjoys working for the Roode family and with his coworkers. He really likes dealing with the public and meeting all of the people that working in a retail environment provides. Jim has three children: Matt, Chris, & Ashley; as well as his six grandkids: Annabeth, A.J., Jake, Violet, Morgan, & Wyatt. Jim plays baseball and golf throughout the summer months and as much hockey as he can in the winter.
Fun Fact: Jim has played in five National Old-Timers Baseball Tournaments across Canada.
Joanne works in our kitchen & bath showroom and loves helping customers make their dream bathroom (new construction or renovation!) a reality. She is thirsty for knowledge and is constantly educating herself, which makes her perfect for sourcing just what her customers are looking for. In her spare time, Joanne loves spending time with her husband, Tommy and son, James. She can also be found baking, going for walks, or bike rides in the summer. Joanne loves to travel and recently went with her family to Dubai!
Fun Fact: Joanne has her motorcycle license!
Mack is one of our yard worker/delivery drivers. As soon as you meet Mack, you notice that he is easy going and likeable. He takes standard and cube truck deliveries and easily adapts to whatever the weather - sunshine, snow, or rain, without complaint. Mack loves being outdoors and can often be found on the banks of a river, fishing. When not spending time outside, Mack is typically driving, listening to his extra-loud car stereo, or spending time with his young family- including his new baby boy!
Marissa is part of the third generation to work at HubCraft. She loves being a part of the family business and the HubCraft team. She enjoys the busy atmosphere of working in the building supply industry coupled with the small-town feel of knowing and helping people throughout the community. Marissa has been part of the framework of HubCraft for over a decade and is grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with her family. She is also thankful for her coworkers, who feel just like family. In her spare time, Marissa enjoys a number of sports, including baseball, ball hockey, soccer, and she is the captain of her ice hockey team. In addition to playing sports, Marissa is passionate about all things yoga and over the years has expanded her practice, becoming a certified Yoga Teacher, Paddleboard Yoga Instructor, and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist.
Fun Fact: Marissa is always in search of her next outdoor adventure- hiking, trail running, or kayaking!
Scott has been working at HubCraft for more than two decades and first began as a salesperson on the front counter. In 1998 HubCraft expanded their business and began offering custom designed kitchen cabinets from Island Cabinet Shop located in Cape Breton. He soon began designing and coordinating the installation of the cabinets on a full-time basis. Scott enjoys the design aspect of the business and finds it fulfilling to experience the transformation a new kitchen can provide in a new home or as an upgrade to an older home. Scott enjoys being involved in sports and continues to play hockey in the winter and races motocross in the summer. When not at the rink or at the track, he also enjoys fishing, hiking, waterskiing, and spending time at the lake.
Fun Fact: Scott has won nine regional championships and placed 9th at the Canadian nationals in Motocross.
Shyla is the newest member of our team and has almost a decade of experience in the industry. Shyla thrives on learning about new products and is knowledgeable in several different departments of the store, including bathroom design, paint, and seasonal. In her spare time, Shyla enjoys practicing archery with her fiancé, Blake, tending to her many house plants, and four-wheeling as much as she can. Shyla's perfect day would be at the beach in the summer, spending time with her family and doggo, Cooper.
Fun Fact: Shyla knows how to sail and is a certified sail coach!
