Texas Public Radio's mission is to engage, inspire and inform, to empower our community to make life better... Aspiring to realize the name chosen at its inception, Texas Public Radio began to find opportunities to expand coverage into other unserved or underserved areas by the late 1990s. KTXI signed on October 8, 1998 to bring public radio to listeners in the Texas Hill Country at 90.1 on the FM dial. On January 20, 2013, KTPR 89.9 FM began broadcasting in Snyder, Texas. KTPR was later upgraded to serve the Permian Basin on September 28, 2020. On October 21, 2013, KVHL 91.7 FM, Broadcasting to Marble Falls, Llano, and Burnet. On May 5, 2016, KTPD 89.3 began service to the Del Rio area. KCTI 1450 Gonzales originally went on the air in 1947, but became a part of the TPR family of stations on September 28, 2016... Texas Public Radio (TPR) operates public radio stations broadcasting to the San Antonio metropolitan area and West Central Hill Country.
