Farid Chemale Junior

Farid Chemale Junior graduated in Geology at the Vale do Rio dos Sinos University (1978) in Brazil. He received his Master's degree in Geochemistry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1982) and his Ph.D degree at Naturwissenschaften from Technische Universität Clausthal (1987). Has experience in Geosciences, focusing on Tectonics, acting on the following subjects: isotope geology, structural geology, analysis of sedimentary basin and metallogeny in South America, Southern Africa and Antarctic.

Francisco Abreu

Francisco Abreu is a geologist graduated from the University of Fortaleza, Brazil (1986). He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Metallogeny, Structural Geology and Geochemistry from the University of Campina, Brazil (1991). Mr. Abreu brings to Vektore his extensive and successful experience in conceptual target generation, greenfield exploration and project management. Mr. Abreu worked for various major and consulting companies, such as: Votorantin Exploration, Goldfields Exploration, Docegeo (Vale Exploration) and Coffey, before joining Vektore as associated consultant. His experience in gold exploration spans from Archean greenstone belts to Meso-Neo Proterozoic orogenic belts environments; including Au-Cu and Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag polymetallic veins associated to Neo Proterozoic epithermal systems and Zn mineralization associated to Neo-Proterozoic basins. Mr. Abreu is well published in peer-reviewed magazines and his current research focus on structural complexities of hydrothermal gold deposits. He is affiliated and active member of various international geoscientific societies (SEG-Fellow, AIG, GSA and SGA). Mr. Francisco Abreu will provide support primarily to our Clients in South America and help grow our business worldwide.

Jair Carlos Koppe

Professor Jair Carlos Koppe, Mining Engineer and Geologist, MSc. and Dr. in Sc., is engaged in the Post-Graduation Program of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. He has worked in research, teaching and consulting since 1980. His work experience includes the position of mining engineer and geologist in mineral exploration of gold, and mining of gold and dimension stones. His research interests include rock mechanics, unit operations of mining, mine planning, mineral exploration and mine reclamation and waste management. Professor Koppe leads the blasting engineering and the rock mechanics emphasis areas in the Mining Engineering Department at UFRGS. He his been publishing regularly technical papers in international journals and international conferences. He has authored and co-authored over 250 publications.

Marcel Santos

Mr. Santos received his M.Sc. in artificial intelligence at the Informatics Center of the Federal University of Pernambuco under the supervision of Dr. Tsang Ing Ren and Dr. Nima Kalantari (Texas A&M University). He is experienced in C/C++ and Python, and with the OpenCV, QT, OpenGL, Tensorflow, Pytorch and VTK libraries.

Mateus de Freitas Leite

Mateus holds a Bachelor of Computer Science at the Informatics Center of the Federal University of Pernambuco and is a master's student in Computer Science at the Informatics Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. His main areas of interest include, but are not limited to, computer graphics, computational geometry, computer vision and image processing. He also is experienced in C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, and in the OpenGL and OpenCV libraries.

Michael Noal

Michael is currently studying geology at the Universidade do Vale do Rio Sinos in Brazil and he is expected to graduate in July 2021. He joined Vektore's team to learn and work with the 3D borehole image analysis software (vSBI™) and more recently he was trained to carry out structural logging of core using the Ore.node software.

Natascha Koop

An OCADU graduate, Natascha studied both art and design. She leads the user experience strategy for multiple projects at Vektore, including visual design, user research, UI design, and information architecture. In addition, her training by ESRI in ArcGIS and by Mira Geosciences in GoCad Mining brings to Vektore an invaluable support to current projects.

Pedro Silva

Member of Vektore since October 2019, his professional and research interests cover Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Artificial Intelligence. Being currently engaged in research and development of software regarding innovative approaches to mining and geology challenges. Mr Silva has experience with C/C++, Java, Matlab, Python, C# languages; and with the OpenCV, QT, Ceres and OpenGL libraries.

Peter C. Lightfoot

Peter received his B.A. in Earth Sciences from Oxford University in 1980, his M.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto in 1982, and his Ph.D. from the Open University in 1985. Following post-doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, he joined the Ontario Geological Survey in 1987, and worked extensively on the geology and geochemistry of Sudbury and Noril'sk. After 10 years with the Ontario Geological Survey, he joined Inco where he was responsible for technical aspects of the exploration program at Voisey's Bay. Following a period of international project generation work, Peter was appointed Chief Geologist responsible for technical aspects of the exploration programs at Sudbury, Thompson, and Voisey's Bay and he advised management on strategic developments in the supply side of the nickel market. In 2016, Peter published the first comprehensive textbook on the ore deposits of the Sudbury Igneous Complex, and at the start of 2017, he was appointed as the Hutchinson Visiting Industry Professor at the University of Western Ontario. Peter is now an independent consultant to the minerals industry. His company, Lightfoot Geoscience Inc, provides consulting services to companies exploring for and developing Ni-Cu-Co-PGE sulfide and laterite ore deposits.

Rafael Fernandes Bueno

Rafael holds a Bachelor of Geology degree in 2003 from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. Rafael has been working since then in the mineral industry, particularly for Vale S.A. in the Carajas Mineral District on various deposit styles. Rafael was particularly involved with the Furnas IOCG where his team significantly increased the mineral resources by adding a new ore body using structural projections. Rafael jointed Vektore in 2020 and his first assignment was to provide structural logging services using Structural Vectoring and the Ore.node software for a Nickel Sulfide explorer within the Carajas Mineral District.

Rodrigo Castiel

Mr. Castiel graduated in computer engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. His main fields of interest comprise software engineering, computer graphics, scientific computing and machine learning. Over the past couple of years, he has interned with large technology companies such as Google and Facebook, where he worked on large-scale systems that impact millions of users. He is currently in charge of designing the underlying user-interface framework on which Vektore tools are built. He is experienced in several languages, including C++, Python, Matlab, SQL, Hack, and in libraries such as Qt, OpenGL, VTK and SciPy.

Rogerio N. Monteiro

Dr. Monteiro joined Inco Limited in 1997 as Senior Exploration Geologist and was appointed Chief Structural Geologist for Vale's Global Exploration Department in 2007. He retired from this position in 2012, and founded Vektore®, a company that has since been focused on advancing the field of applied structural economic geology as well as developing and optimizing new tools and methods that bring significant impact to the industry. He was appointed the "Richard W. Hutchinson Visiting Industrial Professor in Mineral Deposits Studies" at the University of Western Ontario from 2013 to 2016 at the University of Western Ontario.

He is a protégé of Douglas Haynes whose conceptual thinking led to discovery of the world's largest base metal, gold and uranium orebody, Olympic Dam. Tim has been employed as a holistic thinker and project generator for over 25 years and has worked as a professional mentor and coach for 15 years.
