Rob Gumbrell - Managing Director

Rob started his employment in retail banking with Natwest and this provided a sound grounding in customer service and finance. The "numbers" have always been central in his understanding of business principles in a career which has spanned nearly 30 years and several industries. Rob's life in sport was to start in 1995 when he started working with Dunlop Slazenger International. Developing strong links with prestigious venues such as Lords, Wimbledon and Queens Club, along with managing the some of the country's leading multiple sports retailers enabled him to learn the importance of relationships whilst indulging his passion for sport. In 2001 Rob took over the management at his first golf club and in the following years he has successfully run golf clubs for private individuals and also the country's largest golf operator. From a Golf Manager through to a Directorship, he developed each club through sound operational standards, excellent customer service and improving facilities to be the best that they could be. Through these roles, Rob has become a highly motivated, successful and multi skilled professional who understands the importance of building business relationships, providing great service and keeping it simple. He firmly believes that adopting a set of values by which you work, understanding the bigger picture and remaining positive will breed success. Throughout his career he has led teams through consultation, example and direction enabling their development to take over his positions. Rob started ABMA Consulting Ltd in early 2013- a new venture offering business health checks and management consultatancy. Starting in the leisure and pub space, this has now developed into a wide variety of trades through recommendations. Rob has continued with his own professional development and has completed several coaching courses and is also an accredited Time to Think Facilitator and Practitioner. ABMA Consulting aims to help others think about their own goals and develop plans to ensure they are achieved. Rob's mantra of "Uncommon Commercial Thinking" and "Sometimes Simple is Better" runs throughout his business.
