Anne Fowler

BIRD VET - Anne is not presently employed with us. Anne's passions are birds, wildlife and pocket pets. She received her Vet degree from Sydney University, including an honours year investigating Vitamin D metabolism in marsupials and she also holds additional post graduate qualifications in both birds and wildlife. She has a wealth of practical experience, including working at our clinic 2005-7, as a registrar at Sydney University, at Healesville Sanctuary and as head veterinarian at the RCPCA in the Hunter River Valley. She teaches on wildlife care to carer groups throughout Australia, is a bundle of energy, very competent and a delight to work with. We're delighted to have her back, with Anne your birds and other pets are in the best of hands. Anne is now working in Adeelaide.

Dr Pat Macwhirter

Dr Pat Macwhirter, founder of Burwood Bird and Animal Hospital and one of a handful of registered pet bird medicine specialists in Australia.Pat holds post graduate qualifications from both Australia and the University of Pennsylvania in the USA and is Senior Academic Fellow at Melbourne University.

Esther Yuen

Esther graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2013 and joined Burwood Bird and Animal hospital in March 2017. After graduation, Esther worked at an avian and small animal clinic in Singapore for a few years before relocating to Melbourne. Being Singaporean, she is both fluent in English and Mandarin. Esther developed an interest in avian and exotic medicine whilst working and is furthering her studies in that area. Esther has a soft spot for pocket pets, having kept many rabbits when she was younger. Outside of work, Esther enjoys swimming, cafe-hopping, reading, cooking and going for walks with her Japanese Spitz 'Angel'.

Kim Hastie

Kim is the bubbly voice on the phone who joined our team in 2012 after completing her studies in Animal Technology and travelling the world. Prior to working at Bird Vet Melbourne Kim did volunteer work in the Bird Department at Melbourne Zoo, with Wildlife Victoria and with the RSPCA. She loves working with birds and other pets and has two Kelpies, Mia and Abby. In another life Kim is completing her Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching and the inner energy and calmness that comes with this training are great assets in helping our patients and their owners.

Phil Sacks

Dr Phil is an empathetic, relaxed caring bird veterinarian, with post graduate qualification in Bird medicine and surgery - experienced in treating birds and well qualified to give excellent care to birds, and dogs, cats and other pets.
