Assad is an Applied Mathematician and a Director of Operations and Engineering since 2001 working in the U.S, UK, and EU. He is currently a Director in Supply Chain at Amazon (since 2015) where he leads Transportation Execution and Commercial Development/Strategic Sourcing across 22 European countries/50+ Supply Chain partners, at an annual spend of $4B. Before Amazon he was a Technical Principal in Supply Chain Optimization at Dixons Carphone (2011-15) where he led the design and rollout of improved algorithms for demand forecasting, product replenishment, multi-channel behaviour prediction, and format effectiveness of the UK stores portfolio. On the engineering side, Assad was Director of Engineering & Operations (2001-2010) at BioSonics, Inc., where he led the design, development, and manufacturing of sonar systems and real-time software with applications to automated environmental monitoring, undersea defense, and off-shore aquaculture. He was an R&D Systems Engineer at Autonomous Robotics Ltd. (2010-2011) where he designed navigation and localisation algorithms for unmanned autonomous underwater robotic vehicles in Undersea Oil & Gas Exploration (Video 1, Video 2).
Assad holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Swarthmore College, routinely ranked in the top 3 National Liberal Arts colleges in the US (alongside Amherst and Williams). He holds an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics specialising in Optimisation & Modelling from University of Washington in Seattle, the #1 applied mathematics program in the U.
He is an American citizen and British permanent resident and currently resides in London.
Carol is an R&D Engineer and has worked on sensor systems, sensor fusion, and advanced tracking systems at a number of U.S. defense companies, including Raytheon, MIT Lincoln Labs, and AlphaTech (now a part of BAE Systems). She is a guest writer and consulting engineer at MathSciTech.
Carol holds a B.A. in Mathematics and B.Sc. in Engineering from Swarthmore College, routinely ranked in the top 3 National Liberal Arts colleges in the US (alongside Amherst and Williams), where she graduated with Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa). She holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts), ranked in the top 5 universities worldwide.
She is an American citizen and currently resides in Boston.
