Bert Roozen

Bert Roozen was born in the Netherlands in 1962. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology in 1986, summa cum laude. In 1992 he obtained his PhD in technical sciences from the Eindhoven University of Technology. He served as president of the Acoustical Society of the Netherlands (NAG) from 2003 - 2012. He was director of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) from 2007-2011, from 2013-2017 and from 2019 - 2023. SInce 2010 he is owner of NOVIC Noise and Vibration Control. Since 2012 he is affiliated to The University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium. At present he is guest professor at the Laboratory of Acoustics, Department of Physics, University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium. Since 2020/2021 he is assessor / technical expert at the Dutch Accreditation Council RvA, and the Belgium Accreditation Council BELAC. As NOVIC consultant he teaches a number of courses for industrial scholars, amongst which the block "Measurement techniques and data processing" of the in-depth course on acoustics in Antwerp (in Dutch: Hogere cursus akoestiek, Antwerpen). Further details can be found here His scientific interests are acoustics and vibration, and more specifically: tonal noise (ISO PAS 20065), structural dynamics, floor vibrations (VC-limits), structural acoustics, fluid-structure interaction, physical acoustics, porous material acoustics, and measurement techniques in general. Application areas mainly lie in the fields of building acoustics, technical assistance in the field of acoustic law enforcement, vibrations in high tech systems and noise control engineering of machinery. He contributed to 22 patents and is (co-)author of more than 110 journal publications, which are cited more than 800 times. His h-index is 17 (Scopus info, March 2023).
