The Regulated Industries Commission (RIC) is a statutory body established under the Regulated Industries Commission Act, No. 26 of 1998, and came into effect on June 01, 2000. The RIC's inaugural Board was appointed in April 2001. The RIC succeeded the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and is a consumer-oriented entity with strong regulatory powers and responsibilities. The RIC has been established to ensure that good quality and efficient utility services are provided at fair and reasonable costs in Trinidad and Tobago.
