Samantha Bailey

Samantha Bailey is a highly skilled leader with over fifteen years of experience in a variety of user-centered design environments. She provides a range of user experience consulting services, both independently and in conjunction with the ScanPath Usability lab at Kent State University in the College of Communication & Information. Recent clients include Eaton Corporation, SummaCare, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and the University of Michigan Sea Grant. In addition to consulting work, Samantha teaches as an adjunct professor at Kent State University in the Information Architecture & Knowledge Management program. Previously, she was the Director of Usability at Thomson West for the legal research tool westlaw.com and Vice President, Information Architecture for Wachovia.com. Prior to joining Wachovia, Samantha was Vice President of Operations at Argus Associates, a pioneering information architecture firm. Her clients included AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Vanguard, and the Weather Channel. She holds a master's degree in library and information science from the University of Michigan. Samantha Bailey is a highly skilled leader with over fifteen years of experience in a variety of user-centered design environments. As the first employee at Argus Associates, I was there when Lou and Peter wrote the Polar Bear book (also known as Information Architecture for the World Wide Web), which is another way of saying that I've been doing information architecture on the web since its inception! I played an integral role in growing the IA practice at Argus from start up mode to mature practice. In my role as VP of Operations at Argus, I was responsible for the management and career development of 21 information architects and usability specialists.
