FULL MEDIA - Key Persons

Jocelyn Porter

Job Titles:
  • Counsellor
Jocelyn's writing career began when she was asked to write a story for a preschool magazine. That story was the first of many. Jocelyn became the writer/editor of several preschool magazines and continued in that role for 15 years. Writing one new story every month, plus rhymes and activities was a tough gig, but very exhilarating. Time is the big difference between writing for a magazine and writing a book. You see your work on the supermarket shelves within a few weeks of completion. A book takes longer - a lot longer. Jocelyn has to be patient now - not something she's good at. Before becoming a writer, Jocelyn worked in higher education as International Students Officer. It was a rewarding and interesting job even though she was on call 24/7. Jocelyn also trained as a counsellor and volunteered at drop-in centres. She never knew who would arrive for counselling and had to be prepared for anything. This work gave her insight into some of the darker corners of life. Motor sport was one of Jocelyn's early loves, she had the spine-tingling thrill of taking part in a 24-hour national rally as navigator - those were the days when rallies were held on public roads! Jocelyn worked as an au pair in Paris in her teens. Having visited the city on a school trip, she fell in love with it, and always wanted to return. Jocelyn's first book published by Full Media is The King Who Didn't Like Snow, illustrated by Michael S Kane.

Leo Brown

Job Titles:
  • Creative Illustrator
Leo Brown has been a creative illustrator/storyteller for more than 30 years, with a focus on children's books, conceptual art and toy design. He creates high-quality original artworks both traditionally and digitally. Leo's roster of clients is impressive, including big names such as Disney and Roald Dahl among others (check out his website leobrownstudios.com to see who else he has worked with). There are many illustrators that have inspired Leo over the years, such as Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Norman Rockwell, Ronald Embleton, Scott Gustafson, Peter de Seve and Carter Goodrich. Born and bred in the beautiful countryside of Lancashire in the North West of England, Leo loves this part of the country. It influenced the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and never ceases to inspire Leo too. As well as being an accomplished artist, Leo has written a book. Stargazers tells the story of a gnome called Elmore who, with the help of his two friends, saves the human race from evils that dwell in the darkest corners of the Faerie Kingdom. We're proud to have Leo illustrating books for Full Media. He recently did the artwork for the fantastical rhyming picture book, Finn and Fred's Arctic Adventure by Jocelyn Porter, which can be purchased here.

Marion Adams

Marion Adams wrote her first poem (about a mouse) when she was eight and her first book (about the adventures of a dog who runs away from a mean master) when she was ten. The poem was published in a local magazine, but the book manuscript (handwritten on scrap paper held together with a clothes peg), stayed in the drawer. She's been writing ever since, for love and for a living - everything from adverts and articles to magazine stories and play scripts. She's also won several national poetry prizes. Alongside her writing career, she has worked in primary schools supporting literacy, where she had the opportunity to run a club encouraging children to experiment with creative writing. Marion is now a full-time editor and proofreader, a job she loves as it means she gets to work with other writers as well as being paid to read every day. Go to Sleep! is Marion's first picture book, and she's really pleased to be an author with Full Media Ltd. She's sure that children will love Tansy and hopes they'll think of that little sheep when they've forgotten how to go to sleep.
