AA CLAY - Key Persons
Daniel was raised in Louisville, KY and attended undergrad at Morehead State University. He was a Resident Artist at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana and received his MFA in ceramics from the NY State College of Ceramics at Alfred University (2005). Evans' work has been exhibited at SOFA Chicago, the NCECA Clay National Biennial Exhibition and his sculptures and vessels are in numerous private collections. Daniel Co-founded the Bloomington Clay Studio, a nonprofit. He currently lives in Louisville and has a private studio practice @heatworkstudio.
Hannah is a Louisville native who has been connected to the local art community from a very young age. She has been working with clay since she was 7 years old and continues today. Hannah earned her Bachelor of Arts from Western Kentucky University with a background in sculpture and ceramics. While at WKU she continued her journey in ceramics while learning about cast metal and fabrication. She also spent time teaching, working in galleries, and interning as an artist in residence at several different places around the country. Hannah is an eager and enthusiastic artist constantly looking for new opportunities to engage with the community through art.
Robyn is a visual artist who lives and works in Louisville, KY. She earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing at the University of Louisville and her MFA in Painting with a concentration in Anatomy at the New York Academy of Art. Gibson began her ceramic career in 2019. Her work is largely centered around the figure as well as movement and is inspired by her boxing practice and journey of mental and spiritual healing. While Gibson enjoys working on the wheel, her primary passion is hand building. Her voluptuous vessels are adorned with female figures carved into a velvety black surface of terra sigillata.
Suzanne worked as an artist, educator, and community activist in Louisville, KY from 1980 until she passed away in March 2023. As an artist, Suzanne built a strong reputation which rose to a national level in the 90's - 2000‘s. Works made of multi-media; including cast paper, paint, ceramic, wood, and wire, were presented at public and university exhibitions. Suzanne earned her BFA degree in sculpture/painting from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a graduate degree in education from the University of Louisville.
