Dr. John Wheeler, BS, DVM grew up in upstate New York as the last of seven children to two wonderful and supportive parents. Since a young age, he has had a natural bond and empathetic nature with animals and pets in need (and this has never left him). He is a proud graduate of Michigan State University for his Bachelor of Science Degree and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (with his clinical year at The University of Missouri) for his veterinary education. Dr. Wheeler has over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine including a rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, several years of specialty surgery training/practice, and emergency and critical care positions. Most recently, Dr. Wheeler served as a locum veterinarian during the pandemic to help practices in the Valley manage veterinary staffing shortages and provide care to pets while we all faced the unique challenges that have arisen the last few years. Dr. Wheeler is proud and excited to now put down roots at DC Ranch Animal Hospital as the practice Medical Director. Dr. Wheeler's household includes his wife Jessica (an Emergency and Critical Care Certified Veterinary Technician) and his nine pets that currently call his home theirs as well. Dr. Wheeler has a special place in his heart for rescued pets and senior dogs (seven of his nine pets falling into these categories).
Meet Joseph Miranda, CVT, RVT, LVT, FFCP, our Hospital Manager! Joseph leads by example, emphasizing the significance of team support and education. He firmly believes that a well-cared-for team translates to exemplary care for our clients and their beloved pets.
With a solid educational foundation from Eastern Wyoming College, Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our hospital. His commitment to veterinary medicine extends far beyond his roles at our hospital and he serves as the Secretary for the Arizona Veterinary Technician Association and his role as Co-Chair for the Technician Community with the Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona.
Joseph is also actively involved in various volunteer initiatives, reflecting his passion for animal welfare. During his free time, he generously donates his time and expertise to Soul Dog Rescue, offering essential veterinary care to pets in need in our indigenous communities. Additionally, he volunteers with Street Med Phoenix, extending vital wellness services to the pets of the houseless population.
Meet Tasha McChesney, a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for animal care and a heart of service! As a Certified Veterinary Assistant, she has already made significant strides in the veterinary field, but her ambitions don't stop there! Currently attending Penn Foster to become a Certified Veterinary Technician, Tasha is determined to expand her knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care for animals in need. Tasha's background is truly extraordinary, as she comes from a family with an incredible heritage. Both of her parents are decorated Marines, instilling in her a sense of discipline, perseverance, and a commitment to service. Tasha is also a proud member of the Navajo Nation, cherishing and preserving her cultural heritage with love and dedication. Her compassion for animals and her community is evident in her volunteer work. Tasha generously donates her time to organizations like Soul Dog, where she serves indigenous communities, and Street Med, offering veterinary care to houseless populations. Additionally, she is actively involved with Natives in Vet Med, passionately advocating for excellent veterinary care in indigenous communities across the country.
Family is a top priority for Tasha, as she is a loving mother to her daughter, two rescued Dachshund mixes, and rescued cat. Sharing her home with these adorable companions has only strengthened her commitment to animal welfare and advocacy.
When she's not caring for animals or giving back to the community, Tasha enjoys immersing herself in nature. Hiking and camping are her go-to activities, allowing her to reconnect with the great outdoors and find peace and solace in the beauty of the world around her.
Despite her strong dedication to serious matters, Tasha also has a fun side. When she needs to unwind and relax, she indulges in a guilty pleasure: reality TV. This light-hearted escape lets her kick back and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

Meet Tyler Crossetti, your dedicated Veterinary Assistant and Client Liaison! With a passion for exceptional client service, Tyler goes above and beyond to ensure that both clients and their furry companions feel cared for and supported.
Residing in the Cave Creek area, Tyler shares his home with two lovable dogs and an adorable guinea pig. When not tending to the needs of our beloved animal friends, he immerses himself in the world of entertainment, indulging in movies and television series that capture his imagination. Tyler's adventurous spirit comes alive during camping trips and off-roading adventures, where he embraces the great outdoors.
Committed to advancing his expertise in veterinary care, Tyler is currently attending Penn Foster studying to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. This dedication to learning enables him to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field, delivering the best possible care to our beloved patients.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Tyler gives back to the community. He volunteers with Soul Dog, a nonprofit organization that serves indigenous communities and provides much-needed support to underserved pets.
