She received her Licentiate from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1988 and taught at University College in the Departments of Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology ... She carried out her Specialist Training at Guy's Hospital and in 1995 graduated with a Masters Degree in Periodontology in 1993. Shortly after she was granted inclusion on the General Dental Council register as a Specialist in Periodontology. A further diplomate from the Royal College of Surgeons followed in 1997.
