3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing are generic terms given to processes that create or manufacture an object by building it up one layer at a time as opposed to milling or machining, which are subtractive processes... The original intent of this process was to make quick prototypes. However, during the past 20 years the technology has migrated slowly to Direct Digital Manufacturing or what is commonly known as CAD to Part or CAD to Metal.
