Dr Michael Suen

Senior Lecturer

Dr Michael Suen received his undergraduate degree from the University of New South Wales. He completed a Master of Surgery in Colorectal Surgery from the University of Sydney in Year 2010, with his dissertation focused in the management of bowel obstruction from bowel cancer using colonic stents. He obtained further fellowship training via the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery and pelvic floor management. He has particular interest in bowel cancer screening and management, defaecatory disorders such as faecal incontinence and obstructive defeacation, and minimally invasive treatment for haemorrhoids and other proctological conditions. Dr Suen is a senior lecturer in the University of Sydney and supervisor in surgical training in teaching hospitals. He is a committee member of the Australian Chinese Medical Association and actively participates in public health education in the Chinese community.

Dr Simon Chew

Dr Simon Chew obtained his MBBS (Honours Class 1) in 1992 from the University of NSW and gained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2001. He was then selected by The Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) into the colorectal training programme for 2 years (2001-2002). Dr Chew has been a Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW and the University of Sydney respectively. He has been a practising Colorectal Surgeon for more than 16 years and currently operates at Strathfield Private Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital, Norwest Private Hospital and Nepean Private Hospital. Dr Chew has a special interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and management of complex anal fistula. In 2004, Dr Chew designed his own hand-assisted laparoscopic colectomy techniques. He has been invited to teach the techniques at interstate and international educational workshops held in Melbourne, Perth and Singapore. He has also been an invited speaker at various conferences on this topic. Dr Chew has published 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and 2 book chapters. Apart from colorectal services, Dr Chew also provides treatment for various types of hernia: inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional herniae.

Dr Tony Pang

Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital

Dr Tony Pang is a Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Surgeon with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery. He graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2004 and undertook surgical training at Royal North Shore Hospital. He then completed further training in pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgery under the post-fellowship training program of the ANZHPBA (Australia New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic and Biliary Association). He spent this training period at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore. During this time, he acquired experience in both open and minimally invasive techniques in pancreatic and liver surgery. Dr Pang is currently a staff specialist at Westmead Hospital and a visiting medical officer at Norwest Private Hospital. Dr Pang is also a clinical senior lecturer at the University of Sydney (Westmead Clinical School). He has a strong interest in teaching the next generation of doctors and surgeons and is an instructor at various courses run by the University and the College of Surgeons. He is also an active researcher and his research interests relate mainly to the treatment of liver, pancreatic and biliary disorders. Qualifications: MS, FRACS Languages Spoken:
