The Black Canyon City Water Improvement District (BCCWID) is located in the pleasant rural community of Black Canyon City approximately 40 miles north of Phoenix, Arizona on the Black Canyon Highway (I-17) to Flagstaff. The population of this unincorporated community depends upon the time of year, ranging from a little over 2000 residents during the torrid summers to around 4000 in the much more temporate winter months. Living in the Sonoran desert, the possibility of loss of water service due to drought conditions is always a major concern. Fortunately our wells are located on the major Agua Fria River aquifer. The BCCWID serves approximately 2/3 of the town's residents and is owned by the property owners within the District. The domestic water it provides is supplied by three well sites, two owned and one leased. It has operated in the town since the District's formation in 1986.
