- New Rochelle Turkey Trot - Who have annually included The Campership Fund as one of the recipients of their New Rochelle Thanksgiving Day 5K race... Founded in 1957 by a handful of New Rochellians with a simple goal: Sending kids to camp. That first summer the newly formed Campership Fund sent 103 children to camp. Since that time, we have sent New Rochelle children to camp every single summer. Over 10,000 kids and counting…... The need is real, and the effort and results need to continue in our changing world. Fund-sourcing has changed over the years and we do compete with the larger charities for a slice of the pie. We remain local; our fund is local, and our children are local. We are reaching out to you to help give our kids a much-needed camp experience.
